nfs shift has gotten really great reviews, especially for an NFS game.

the only problem is DiRT 2 has also gotten really good reviews (although its a different type of racing), and Forza 3 is bound to poop all over NFS's good review party too.

Shift is a game I will probably end up buying when its $20 or $30. Too many other worthwhile games coming really, really soon.

        the graphics still look sketchy.

Im waiting for FIII and Cod 4.5.

I mean, if a game takes such a short time to beat, it isnt on my to buy list.

well, i played the need for speed shift demo today, and all i can say is that i'm very disappointed. i was looking forward to needing to buy an NFS game for the first time since most wanted, but the game is really not great.

the graphics are really impressive. the gameplay and controls make the game feel way too arcadey, much like grid (fast twitch turning). because of this, if you have all assists off, its almost impossible to drive in a straight line, because as you try to tap left or right to straighten out, you end up going into a drift, making it impossible to JUST GO STRAIGHT.

i thought i might be buying this to hold me over until forza comes out, but i'll just wait and spend my money on uncharted 2, which is really really awesome.

+10. agree. i played the demo too and its way too cheesy. i guess i am too used to rfactor and now iracing. plus, it didn't get along well with my logitech g25. i'm going to pass.

My thoughts exactly. Been playing it the past couple nights for a couple hours and the game feels unpolished. I've gone back and forth on settings because any assists on and the game brakes and steers for you, any assists off and you can't drive 50ft without crashing. Thank god for torrents, I'd be pissed if I bought it. I like the concept of the game with the aggressive and precision paths but they could have spent a lot more time on the actual driving.

I'd play NFS:Porsche Challenge anyday instead of this pile of...

Just a side note. NFS Shift was made by the same team that did GTR2. This game delivers!

Disagree. I had the same issue when all assists are off, and it becomes so difficult to keep the car straight, took me near two hours to adjust the controls to get it to a point where it was drivable, and even then, I had to return to the main menu just to adjust it because they decided to not have it while in game. Deleted the game a little while later.

Im probably the only one here who owned the original NFS when it was released for the 3DO which is the best one made.

I have to agree with that, my E46 (GTR, it has the works done) is damn near impossible to drive straight, it's like driving on glass. I think it is a decent game though, it is able to deliver to the masses while still being technical enough to appeal to enthusiasts. Sure it is unpolished in some driving aspects but I am still enjoying it when I am not yelling at it to go straight. I think the damage needs to be more realistic though.
