Ok, i recently found out about vuze, a bit torrent program. You can download almost anything that is available for downloaded content. it is also user promoted, so anyone can put anything up for downloads.
I recently downloaded Role Models. no harm. nothing said it was illegal, no warning, nothing. I always thought you can download a video/movie and burn it for PRIVATE use. After all, when someone buys a movie, they are mostly paying for the technology to put it to a disk, iirc.
I got a flag on my email today from charter stating i am committing a copyright infringement by playing role models on my PC and xbox 360 (networked both together to watch movies on my tv).
Now i am not exactly worried about if its illegal or not, but my biggest worry is what else are they watching on my computer? If they can see when i downloaded, and how many times i played it to the exact hour and minute, what else are they capable of?
How can i avoid this in the future, and how might i bring this up to them? is this considered invasion of privacy? If you search up Charter Communications, you will see they have a history of screwing over its customers.
