Happy early homecoming. I have thought about what it will be like when I graduate and am trying to get a job. There are a ton of ME jobs around here, but not many specific to my chosen specialty. I would have very mixed feelings about picking up and moving out somewhere all by myself. Having a girlfriend or friend with you would make it much more bearable.

I think I've come to the conclusion that I would really like to remain within 40 miles of the Puget Sound. I just can't think of anything I don't like about W. Wash.

haha. Actually now that you say that, I do hate the traffic around the puget sound. I lived in seattle right out of high school and my girlfriend lived in Puyallup. That was a shitty ass drive for me or her to make. Now my parents live in Bellevue, and I absolutely despise 405 any time after noon on week days. 405, 90 (west of issaquah), 5, 167, 18, 520 are all freeways that I really do not enjoy driving

Thats mainly the east sides problem though, those damn yuppies (yes i'm generalizing, but I've been commuting from Tacoma to Redmond for 5 1/2 years) don't want any improvements done to any road in that area, 405 is a joke, they don't want light rail, they didn't want the sounder, they don't want more busses, Bellevue/Redmond/Sammamish/etc all want to remain an isolated part of WA, and they make it very clear when "southerners" try to drive there every day.

I cringe at traffic every day I'm in that area, I-5 is fine with me, yeah it gets crowded, but we want improvement, we now have the sounder, we have amtrak, the link light rail is going to eventually connect Tacoma to Seattle, and everything is about improvement.

Bellevue/Renton had railroad tracks connecting the two and originally were looking at adding a sounder route.. what did they do? Tear up the track and turn it into a bike/walking trail...gee thanks.

Hrm, EDIT.. I stand SOMEWHAT corrected

The East Link Light Rail project is Sound Transit’s voter-approved plan to expand light rail from downtown Seattle to the Eastside serving Mercer Island, South Bellevue, downtown Bellevue, Bel-Red and the Overlake areas. Additional environmental review is being done on a future extension to downtown Redmond.

A preferred route for the East Link Light Rail project was determined by the Sound Transit Board of Directors in May 2009. The final route will be selected in 2010 based on additional environmental impact evaluation. Construction for the East Link Light Rail project is envisioned to begin around 2014, working to service to Bellevue in 2020.
2020...we already HAD rail lines for the sounder..but NOOOOO

California blows. Sorry to you who live here, but I can't understand why you would. Pace of life, cost of living, pretensions.. its just a shitty place to live IMO. Only saving grace here is it's sunny most of the time and the women are hot.

Dude Cali is the shit!! :pimp:, Plenty of women and always something to do. No other place can it be compare too. Yeah the cost of living is a little high but we have everything around us. You wanna go snow-boarding head north, you want to go surfing head south, or you wanna have a great time drive like 4hrs to Las Vegas and  have a crazy time! people that have been living here for a good while know exactly what am talking about...best of luck to you do!

Why is that? I drove my m30 car all last winter. Mind you I was blowing off suv's and subaru's going up hills. All it takes is a decent set of snow tires. Even then you only use those tires a couples of days during the winter.

Actually no it doesn't. Apparently $4000 a month isn't enough to live off of in fucking costa mesa/irvine. Much less afford to do anything while renting a 540 square foot studio
