I sure hope you dont end up with any hidden injuries. here is to a speedy recovery and lots of luck with the insurance getting a fair settlement and finding another DD!
Thank you sir and thanks to everyone for their kind words. I really wish that I could have avoided the accident but in all honesty I didn't see another option since I was already starting to turn. My only real reaction was to brace for it and I think that helped a lot as far as my subtle injuries are concerned.

Since you didn't go to the hospital, her ins. will most likely dick around with you. Hopefully im wrong, but something tells me its going to happen.

Well the police report and all witnesses stated it was clearly her fault and she was cited for following too closely. Also there were no tire tracks leading up to the accident so she didn't appear to brake at all. She admitted full fault at the scene to the police as well. Pretty much a clear cut case of her fucking up and paying no attention. On top of that i'm not trying to get a boatload of money so hopefully the insurance company will give me a couple grand for down payment on a newer truck. I have been looking at '00-'02 4Runners already :D

On the flip side I feel ok today other than a mild headache and some overall soreness. About what I would compare to a rough hockey practice. At this point her insurance company seems like they are going to be cool with paying out. They are arranging a rental for me right now.

I wonder if it's better to tense up, or to relax and allow your body to just take the impact?

Good to hear you are OK!

Generally I hear its better to relax, but I didn't want my head to snap back so basically I just leaned back and held onto the wheel. I tried to relax after the initial impact though in case my seat belt failed and sent me flying. Fortunately it held up and did its job.

Yeah best is to put your head into the restraint (headrest), its the whipping action that fucks you up.

Too bad it was a Jeep. I got nailed at 45 in my old Tacoma by a chevy something (small sedan) and, while I did get bounced around a bit, the truck was fine save for the bumper. Those little cars just kind of bounce off of truck bumpers.
                Im now E30less.

Having been in multiple accidents where I was not at fault, I can give you some advice.

Go to the doctor, go to physical therapy, get x-rays and take pictures of any bruising for evidence.

Even if you are "not trying to get money", these actions alone will let the other insurance company know you are serious about getting your sustained injuries taken care of. Your vehicle rolled, you had lacerations and from what I can tell have a great case against her seeing she admitted fault at the scene and it's on the police report.

That being said, you could get close to $5k for your injuries, and then pretty much just KBB value for the truck.

                  Good luck man!

The rear end of your truck looks great all things considered. I would expect more damage at the rear. I would def get an x-ray, and checked out just in case. Its a pain and takes time but is well worth it, and Im not the type of person looking for a handout, or free money.

Shoulda laid on the horn and turn on your hazards....It may not have prevented it but she may have slammed on the brakes....

Or slammed it in reverse and derby'd that shit.

I thought the same thing. I was saying to a coworker today that had the truck not rolled it probably wouldn't have been that bad looking. Sort of an obvious observation but you know what I mean.

I actually scheduled an appointment for tomorrow morning for xrays. I am still sore today, which I expected, but going back to work was a little harder than I thought it was going to be. I'm not the type to try and take advantage of the whole insurance system, but when it comes to my well being I guess its really not something to fuck around with. I figured better to get checked and have nothing wrong than to have something wrong and find out about it a few years from now.

Woulda, shoulda, coulda. I have come up with a million things that would have changed the situation for better or worse, but all said and done I think it worked out as well as a shitty situation could.

I came to that realization a few times today haha, I definitely got off easy compared to what could have happened. Fortunately I am one to wear my seat belt.

Trip to the doctors was a waste of a copay(well not mine). Wish english would have been his first language. It made for an painstakingly long and pointless appointment. He basically told me he didn't think there was any bone damage, just bruising. I guess its good on the insurance to at least have a visit on the records.
