    5-0 is a D.Bag

Some cop decided he has nothing better to do than pull me over and give me a ticket for 15 day expired tags. It's only $80 but when you are already broke and in college it is a lot. The money (when I had it) would have gone directly to my tags anyhow, so now I get to pay double because an officer who's salary is paid, in part, by me wanted to be strict. Most officers will give 30 days or a warning, but not this guy, he's an all around ace.

The police force come into my work all the time, and I haven't seen this guy before. He was fairly young and must be new. Good thing I know all of his superiors on a first name basis. He should have a couple good chats coming up while standing around the water cooler.

Wow, what a fucking dick cop. I can't believe he was doing his job. What a fucking jerk. Good thing you're going to talk to his supervisors and get him put in his place.

I know in texas as long as you get it taken care of within a week or two they will dismiss the ticket in court. Just get that shit taken care of.

15 days? makes sense. i got pulled over one time for having an August expiration date sticker late at night aug 31st/sept 1st (it was after midnight). one thing led to another, spent the night in jail. why the hell are you surprised you got a ticket for that? the first thing a cop will be checking is your tag/license status. in my area, they will almost always drop stuff like that if you come in with proof you fixed it before court.

Don't they give extensions before it expires?

No, he pulled me over for that fact alone. It wasn't like I committed a moving violation.

              Honestly, i'm just venting here.

And No they don't give extensions. Usually most cops are decent enough to give you a warning with a time frame on it. Also you can't get out of these tickets in MO.

Yeah I know they do. It is just my opinion that their time could be better spent. In my perspective, tag renewal is nothing but a money grab, just as the tickets are.

I've gotten no less than 6 tickets for expired something on my car. You'd think I would learn by now but I until now my cars consisted mostly of junkers that would barely if at all pass inspection. Usually it's just being in the wrong place at the wrong time. 2 of the tickets were when I was on my way to get the car inspected, which of course the cops didn't believe.

Like lennon said most times they will drop it if you come in with proof.

About 2 years ago I was in my dad's car and got pulled over for expired inspection sticker, which caused him to notice that the registration was expired, which then got him suspicious and he asked for the insurance card, which was also expired. My dad had had everything up to date, it was all just sitting at home. I got 3 tickets and they only ended up dropping 2 of them.

I guess i can give it a shot. Hopefully I'll talk with a judge who will work with me. What is the logic of what you are suppose to do when all your money is already spoken for? Just this month I've paid $880 in tuition and $300 in loan debt. Where is my money for food, living, fuel, insurance, phone suppose to come from? I'm a full time college student with an almost full time job. What a piece of shit it is when you have to have things to have other things.

money grabs, yes. florida just doubled (or more) the cost of every DMV fee (and im sure other branches too). ie registration went from ~30 bucks to 60. license renewal from ~20 to ~50. everything.

also on a money grabbing note, i build cabinets and do other home remodeling. im working on a small island off the coast of FL. the gap from mainland to island is about 100 yards or so, if that. all the rich fools on the island are completely against putting a bridge up, so they run a ferry back and forth all day. it holds about 6 cars, at a rate of 60something per car, per trip. thats every time you come across. my buddys f-350 falls into the "large truck" class which is something like 90 dollars per axle, coming out to 176 for him. needless to say we only take the f-350 when needed. we've had the job for almost a month, not working there every day have spent well over $1000 dollars on these ferry passes.

Cops are dicks but expired tags are expired tags. Like everyone said, pay your tags and try to get it thrown out.

Sorry man, that really sucks. I am a broke college student too so I know how that in but honestly every time I was ever pulled over I did something wrong, no matter how insignificant it was. Rarely did I ever go free but I admit the cop always had a reason to pull me over, sure it sucks and sure he could have given me a break but in all fairness there are laws and they were broken it is his job to uphold them.

If they aren't going to help you out on the fine atleast ask for an extension to pay it and then try to get some overtime at work or something.

That sounds really lame. I hope you tack those costs on to the customers bill. lol

Yeah, I know i'm in the wrong. It just sucks. Good thing the "people" run this country. I was thinking how complex law and procedure has gotten these days. Just think of the poor generations to come who will get to read, in their overly priced text books, the hundreds of pages full of text and clauses just to pass one item in to law. The system has gotten to a silly point and it is due to the people who are greedy. No one believes in a hard days work with a fair pay.
