Mixed colour marriage refused by white judge

The guy was just plain wrong and should have his status of Justice of the Peace revoked. He knew when he accepted the position that he was required to give marriage licenses to everybody the law allowed. He can't be making his own rules with regards to that. He does have free choice though and he can refuse anybody he wants to. It's just that he is also forgoing his duty, responsibility and most likely his job at the same time. It doesn't matter what the guy's reason was, it was wrong. The guy is an idiot.

As a side note, in Connecticut, a JotP can refuse to perform a civil union for homosexuals. But in Massachusetts, they can't. If you don't like that and you are a JotP, well, either suck it up or quit. That's just the way the laws are.

The idiot in the store is probably different since there is probably no stipulations about who he has to sell to. However, I would hope that everybody in that area would avoid his store, whether they think a Palin supporter is an idiot or not, because the store owner is obviously an asshole.


The problem here is that race is still a big issue, but not for the majority of us and not the way it used to be. Even for those of us who it is not a problem, we cannot make any judgments for fear of reprisals. I think that Al Sharpton is a manipulative and exploitative shyster. But if I say that in the wrong place, I'll get called a racist. Why? Well, mostly because of guys like Al Sharpton who continually remind us that saying anything bad about people of color is being a racist.

agree 100%. I'll only add that unfortunately, due to people like sharpton crying racist like crying wolf, real racism will go uncalled for because of the backlash it will invoke. people like him are demeaning the term. at the end of the day people should be judged on their actions not their skin color, religion, sexual preference, political preference etc. criticism of obama for his policies is perfectly fine, it's the blatantly racist slogans and rhetoric asking him to go back to kenya etc that i find offensive. btw, i've lived in kenya, it's a pretty amazing place, so it just shows the ignorance of some.
