How much do you have in savings?

I've got a pretty good cushion. Spending comes after living expenses and the max I can put away in IRAs. Whatever is left goes for cars, movies, etc. I'm still broke as hell since I'm in school though, all my money is in untouchable retirement/house/grad school savings. Still, if something were to happen, I can be comfortable for a good while.Comment

I have about 8-10 months worth of liquidity. Anything beyond that I would have to start attacking my investments, which I would rather not do.Im now E30less.

If i lost my job, meaning if my family company went belly up, I could survive for a few months before I would have to sell my house. But my last job was exited smoothly so there is a very good chance that i would have a job again within that time. More than likely would require relocation though.Comment

have it back to about 8k that I can get too, but still feel really broke. I was laid off for nearly 8 months this winter and just now getting caught back up. Job I am on has about 6 more weeks, then who knows off again for a while prolly.
I have done rather well with my investments even in this down turn and my pensions are very very healthy, If I can keep on working even on these little jobs I will be just fineOriginally posted by FusionIf a car is the epitome of freedom, than an electric car is house arrest with your wife titty fucking your next door neighbor.

Dave Ramsey says "live like no one else so one day you live like no one else" It's a good slogan. We live spartan as possible, but then once a month I do something stupid and do or buy some luxury. I'm young and money still tries to burn a hole in my pocket.i'lldoitforacaravanComment

My wife and I are comfortable. We've had some setbacks (house fire, cancer) but we've adjusted and adapted. We saved a years' pay, "just in case," and we're glad we did. Not a years' worth of expenses,a year of income. When the rain came, we didn't have to trade filet mignon for Vienna sausages.
We'd be much worse off if we had not started out marrying without any debt; it was a goal we set and met including paying for our wedding. Six years later, it was one of the best decisions we ever made.
Debt is too easy. Be responsible. Take responsibility. Use your imagination and suck it up until any debt you have is gone; we did. The very first month you pay things off, you will find you have a ton of cash... that has no obligations. Plant it. Let it grow.- Sco
