    Blizzak question

We had a pretty wicked snow fall a few days ago and I again realized how incredibility shitty my tires are in winter. No they are not bald, the front's aren't even a year old yet, they are just the worst tires any company could ever make.

So I want to pickup a set of blizzaks, but I don't know what to get. Normally I go on tire rack and just look at reviews, but last I checked there weren't any reviews for them for some reason.

It looks like there are 2 series, the WS and LM. Which one is better and why? I think the cheapest ones are like WS-40's iirc, and the most expensive are the LM-25's. Does anyone know the differences?

Yeah I just need something, I'm sure anything would be better than what I have, but if I'm going to throw down I would rather get something pretty good.

I live on top of a hill, and its not unusual for me to spend over an hour trying to go 10 blocks to get home. There's about 5 different ways to get to my house, all of them are hills. So I just keep trying each road until I find one I can actually get up lol.

well living in new england we have some wicked winters, and I nor my father have had any issues driving our cars through the winter with the blizzak's.

for the record he drives an e24 635csi and i have my e28 535is, just food for thought.

I'm kinda testing two different snow tires on two of the same cars (dodge neon) and I'm in between the two right now. Blizzak ws-60s and firestone Winterforces. Both are great, but I have not had a snow to try them in yet. They are both nice so far...

I've had those Winterforce tires on my e30 in a pretty good snow storm. I was impressed.

I think the WS are the higher profile "standard" performance line, and the LM's are for larger luxury cars, with a lower profile tire. Obviously there are some tire sizes you can get both lines in...

I have a set of WS-50's on my 2004 Passat that I've had for 5 winters and they are still in good shape and lots of tread left. They completely transform the car and make it very assuring in the snow.

I just picked up a set of LM25s for the iX a few weeks ago. Per tire rack, the WSs have a special "tube multicell" compound that helps bite in snow but wears out quick; the LMs have a normal winter compound that can handle high speed driving in the dry.

just put the snow tires back on yesterday - WS-50s. No complaints and they were cheap in bottlecap size.

I'm going to keep my eye open the next few weeks here to try and find a deal on the set. I guess I will just go with whatever deal I can find.

It says "new" on tirerack, they must have gotten the new ones in would be my guess. $140 a tire for me.
