Needing to do a roadtrip and need your guys' help

We both been up the one till monterey, so thats as far as my knowledge goes about that.

well if you keep going, you hit the most famous part of highway 1, then you hit SF, and then there is another 350ish miles of road until highway 1 ends, winding through incredible scenery and small coastal towns until you hit 101, which winds through the redwoods. it depends on how much driving you want to do, but its also likely the weather will be much milder if you stick to the coast (although possibly, likely foggy), and the drive is fucking. amazing.

so yeah, if you want to have a driving trip and you haven't been past monterey before on 1, i'd say just keep going north along the coast until you feel like it. if you want to drive somewhere and then hike or whatever, then i'd say drive to utah (weather may be an issue?) or nevada and do that kind of thing.

If you're in SoCal drive to Austin, Texas the Hill Country has some great roads to drive and Austin is a crazy city, you'll have a blast. it's about 18hrs from San Diego IIRC.

Going to Austin definitely has the 'different' element we're looking for. Im over 21 but the gal pal ain't. Still some cool stuff to do there?

19 hours, but of course i wouldnt give away an epic ski spot. its near jackson hole, but its not jackson hole. three times as much yearly snow fall ;) if your into that

Mesa Verde Nat'l. Park, then take Route 550 north out of Durango into Silverton. Catch Black Canyon of the Gunnison on your way to Colorado Springs/Denver.

Clue me in. I'm 75 min out of JH, about 2 hr. out of Yellowstone.

Also, for the record, most all the tourist roads are closed in Yellowstone now. Snowmachine season starts on the 15th of Dec IIRC.

Also v.2, I agree with the above post. Zion is amazing.

noone there. you have the whole place to yourself it feels. most people get caught up in the jackson hole trap, this place is getting 3times as such snow, and its the lightest powder i have riden. -30temps make for some light snow, and most locals don't even show up unless it dumped the night before. when i was there last christmas i was neck deep in some powder, and most times wouldn't see anyone till i got near the bottom, or unless i was riding the grommed trails. also they have some areas you can hike to and they don't care if you go out of bounds or build yourself a booter. it was by far my best week of snowboarding, and it was only christmas. if your semi close i say check it out, if your far away take the trip, if by whatever reason(impossible if you love powder) you don't like it, jackson hole is less than an hour away.

thanks for callin me kid. Im young but damn my friends make me feel old ;). See though thats the thing a long drive with a good friend can be an awesome experience if the certain side trips are made. And since I live next to a might fine twisty road, straight would constitute as being different.

But in all honesty Im liking going up the 1 or stopping by Zion before heading to colorado springs as my options the more I think about it.

Healdsburg is pretty cool...up by Napa and Sonoma. Bring your bikes, do a wine tasting loop. Cheap, fun, awesome scenery.
