Looks pretty good. Kind of low on RAM, but for another $50, you could increase that to 4GB and would have plenty.

DDR2 is cheap. All depends on what you are going to use it for though.

I've never had a laptop but for this price I am willing to get one for just the usual school work, web browsing and ps.

Just looking for a general review of the brand, its features and what is it good for and what it wouldnt be able to handle.

          thanks

I have a HP, it's not bad. Nothing like my desktop though. The processor can get pretty hot so watch it.

I have the HP G60 us401 or whatever it is. I just got it about a month ago and I like it a lot. Looks exactly that same as that one, but with different internals.

Overall I think that it was a good buy. I like the little on/off switch for the wireless right there on the top of the speakers next to the computer's on/off switch. I have vista though, not W7.

I don't like HP that much but a lot of people I know have them. Theirs overheated so you might want to pick up those underbody fan deals. I just don't like their screens itseems dull and not as vivid as other brands.

According to this article 25.6% of HPs fail. But then they said Acers and Gateways suck and I currently own 4 of them, so who knows. http://tech.yahoo.com/blogs/null/154921

Mine overheated, it went back twice in less than 6 months. Been good ever since then but would never buy an HP again. Either going with a Toshiba or a Mac.

For the price it's a good deal, I would say that if you're gonna buy a laptop you should make sure it has wireless N and Gigabit LAN support (10/100/1000) which this one doesn't, but since you'll be using for basic stuff it should be fine. Just make sure to upgrade the RAM to 4GB, you'll really like Windows 7

And both of those have major over heating problems as well (especially considering I'm on my Macbook right now)

I have to use a cooling pad on my HP, it definately isn't the best one I bought. My a1357c desktop kicks ass though.

10/100 is more than fast enough for MOST anything. Especially on a latop where hdd is going to be slower than on a desktop ;)

wireless G is hardly ever truely 100mbit though, it's almost always 1/10th or less. Haven't used an N network yet but it couldn't be slower..

                            Wireless G is 54mb/s...

                            if there's no overhead
if there's no packet loss and you're at 100% signal strength (basically within 10 feet of the router in plain sight)

                            But for $200...

Seems like a good deal..you will have to fight 1000 other people in line for it tho.

Think about getting there around 3 am
