                funny thing, This story (not farbins) has been on all the major news net works, the nightly news, USA today, NYT, WP, WSJ, BBC, and every place you can find.

                        Gas prices spike because of the weather once the weather is predicted and nothing has happened. Sometimes as far as a week in advance. Anything related to crude oil or fuel in the news causes this to happen.
                        Weather? For starters weather impacts more than one ship. It also impacts the production of refined petrol directly by shutting down pipelines and refineries.

                        One ship isnt going to do shit unless you think a .3% uptick is a "spike." Crude is in surplus at the moment and most of it comes via pipelines from our own continent, this is a drop in the bucket.

                            Gas did go up while I have been gone the last 7 days. Went from 2.65 to 2.74 for premium in my area. Big jump why? Artifically created lack of supply....

                                        It won't have much of an effect on gas prices. They might spike by a couple pennies for a week or so as a result. Besides, the shipping line's insurance company will probably cover the loss--not to mention the oil will most likely be recovered for a price marginal to its real value.
