your still a puppy you have a long life to live. Many people close to you will die in your lifetime. What worked for me is being optomistic. It was their time to go, and hopefully theyre in a better place now.
I don't agree at all. They didn't have their seat belts on. It sucks, but it didn't have to happen. You can't tell me Eric's friends were born and destined to die in that accident. What if I get off the computer and shoot my neighbors and blow my head off? Would that have happened for a reason? I think not.

Eric sorry I'm getting all gay in your thread. Time for me to go to bed.

Well, posterity, you will never know what it cost us to preserve your freedom. I only hope that you will make a good use of it. If you do not, I shall repent in heaven that I ever took half the pains to preserve it.

In the august accident, four out of the five people in the car had their seat belts on. Dustin was the only person not wearing one and he survived. The four who did wear a seat belt died.

Well nearly none of the news articles were correct when ish hit the fan. There were 2 more cars of my friends who went..so there were 3 total. Dustin survived by NOT wearing one. He smashed threw the window and flew 70 some odd feet out of the car. The fact that he wasn't wearing one, saved his life.

i like you have had more than a handful of friends pass through out highschool... its not easy but it will get better.
and like someone said before it helps to think of good memories. Whenever i get sad i just think of all the fun i had with them or stupid things they did that would make me laugh.
just keep your chin up brother!

to go with the seatbelts thing. the accident that happened the other day near my town, on some site(i forgot which), one lady pretty much flipped, and said that it was the kids fault that they died in the accident.

the comment after hers was from a paremedic saying
"i know they were wearing there seat belts, i unbuckled them personally"

and the accident near me last week, the only one who died was the one in the backseat not wearing his, he went through the windshield.

seat belts are a two way thing
they can hurt, and they can save

Feel your pain man, I also went to a high school that was smaller in size so I knew everyone. In this past year i've had two teachers that I really enjoyed pass away, one was younger and one was in his 50's that was hard but the worse was one of my best friends passing away in may, he was 20 years old, went to the hospital complaining about chest pains went into a coma and passed away. His liver had failed due to a rare genetic disease. Its been real tough, but all you can do is remember the good times you spent with them, live your life for them, and support all the others involved in the tragedy.

PS: Its kind of ironic, but the kid who passed away and I used to go to taco bell all the time also. Was a ritual we liked to call "Taco Bell Tuesday"

i would disagree. 99% of the time the seat belt will save your life. there are some stories about how not wearing a seatbelt has saved people, but there are far far far more stories about how the seatbelt has saved or would have saved the life lost. it is a very lucky thing that his friend did not die, but in most cases if you wear your seat belt you live, if not you die. dont start telling people not to wear seatbelts, that is dumb. wear your seatbelts and drive smart, don't be dumb. if you hit something and you are not wearing a seatbelt then you bounce around in the cabin and kill yourself and possible others with you. if you are actually going fast enough for the impact to throw you out of the car then you get to hit the glass (most likely with your head) then hit the ground going roughly the same speed the car was traveling at inpact. the seatbelt slows you down and keeps you in place. wear your damn seatbelt.

                    Damn, man. My condolences. :(

I'm with you, bro. I went to a small high school (something like 300 people) and one of my classmates died after graduation. One of my teachers committed suicide, too.

It sucks when you see people that look like them or have the same name and you suddenly have multiple memories flooding your brain. Just do whatever it takes to cope with it, as long as it's legal obviously lol.

And whoever says everything happens for a reason is full of shit.

Eric, I'm sorry to hear about your friends.

Death is scary, I'm scared of it every day. I don't know what I would do if I lost one of my close friends.

                      Stay strong man.

Ben312: I totally agree with the whole seat belt thing. Ever since I have first sat in a car, I have worn my seat belt. I will always continue to do so. It's a miracle Dustin lived.

I appreciate all the kind words everyone. The stories make me feel like I am not alone.

As for the whole, everything happens for a reason thing. The only thing that I could come up with that sat alright with me was that, I suppose God needed my five friends more than I did. I'm not religious at all, but that sat fine with me, as I do have my own beliefs.

My school is a pretty small HS. Out in the county with goats, horses, and cows. Our class had a tad bit over 100 kids whom graduated. So everyone was pretty close. It flooded the news and newspapers for about two weeks. Then we had a decently large memorial gathering. Twas a beautiful thing.

Its all perspective, really. What Ive experienced in my life may be alot different than yours in that little rinky dink town you grew up in. Yes I could grab my P229 and go shoot my neibhor right now, but I have control over that. I cant sit around worrying about matters I have no control over.. ( people driving like retards, etc)

In 2000 i flipped my car 4 times piss drunk and was thrown from the sunroof. Coma for 6 hours, dislocated hip, broken wrist, and substantial head trauma. Left the hostiptal within a week..... When you dodge death by a waffleswaffleswaffleswaffles hair like I did you tend to look at things a little different.

alot of my friends, in alot of different incidents that werent even as bad as my accident werent so lucky.

Back in high school during my junior year(06') I lost two of my friends due to unrelated incidents but It hit the school hard. Im not sure how i was able to cope. I guess I just tried my hardest to think of the best. But sometimes that just doesnt work.

There has been plenty of deaths recently in Chicago for the dumbest shit. On halloween weekend a good friend of mine Manny Roman was at a party; At about 1:30am someone pulled out a gun and shot him 3 times. He survived but in critical condition. He had been in the hospital up until friday in which he just passed. He left two kids a set of 3 year old twins. He was the kind of person that if you needed anything he would take care of you from big to small.

Over the past summer my friend had filmed a music video at his barber shop. you can see him standing in the middle with the red undershirt at 1:30. and at 1:43/44.

The gun violence in Chicago has gotten stupid. even the amount of violence taking kids that havent even reached junior year in high school is rediculous
