My brother in law and I were actually just talking about this the other day. I would love to go live in the UK for a while. My reasons are all the usual cliche "American that wants to live in Europe/England" crap, but I just think it would be fun, I've always thought the UK was really cool.

Have you been there? I went to both England and Whales on my rugby team's Euro tour and they were my least favorite destinations. England is a beautiful place, and London is pretty cool, but the people (at least in my experience) are ass holes. By comparison, Ireland (only went to dublin) and Germany (3 cities) were much better.

We were only 16-18, and both of the teams we played in England had HATE for us simply because we were American. They would rake you on the back or legs with their cleats, bite your ears, poke your eyes, squeeze your balls etc. They didn't want to hang out with us after the games either. Even just walking through town, some guy heard us talking, knew we were American and proceeded to tell us that we were "stupid fucking yankees and that we should burn in hell". This was a skinny little fucker saying this to 5 or 6 big, strong ass rugby players (okay, 4 or 5 big, strong ass rugby players and me).

On the other hand, I had one of the greatest 4 day periods of my life when I went to Ireland. The people were great, scenery was beautiful, Dublin was fun and I happened to lose my virginity to a nice young lady from Trinity College.



And for the OP, I can't really answer your question. I would have to travel much more to see what I would like. I've been to five countries in Europe, canada, Mexico and Jamaica. That is not nearly enough experience for me to know where I would want to move.

Agree. I grew up in london. hated it. i like to visit now and then but would never live there again. In the US I've lived in IA (college) and pretty much rest of it in the NYC metro area. Granted i've never lived in the South but have traveled extensively in the US and I never felt like I didn't belong. I did very much feel that when i lived in the UK. I've also lived in Kenya, Papua New Guinea and Sri Lanka (born there) in my youth and traveled to many many countries around the world. The US is still #1 IMO.

I'd move back to Australia in an instant, I lived in Geelong for 6 months a few years back and I absolutely loved the country.

And just to throw my shoe in to the ring with Iain and mrsleeve, I've never really had problems with crime in either country. But where as there's always some mass shooting or other fucked up thing in the US happening every week, nothing like that ever happened in 6 mo in Australia.

I never took a picture of her... I met her in a pub, her and her friends went to some club with me and some of my teammates and then we got some late night dinner at some restaurant. I didn't have my camera with me, didn't have my cell phone because it didn't work etc.

Funniest thing is that we were staying in a hostel, so there was about ten other guys staying in the same room with me. We did it in the bathroom and got walked in on twice. I can still see her face and hear her voice. The sex was memorable only for the fact that it was the first time. I'm sure I was just awful -- I hadn't the slightest clue what I was doing.

very true. I was thinking more of the Lakewood police shootings, and the fact that in the past 3 weeks there have been 4 murder-suicides in Portland alone where some father shot his wife/family and then himself.

They're a lot of fun - generally the feral cats out here are BIG, like the size of a rottweiler dog or larger and vicious. I've had one family friend from Canada tell me they're a bit bigger than a bobcat if that gives you an idea of the size of these fucking verminous pests.

In some parts of Australia the army actually hunt them as part of their training.
