I notice this too. Conservatives tend to make a generalization that most college professrs are liberal. In economics, finance and business departments, this is certainly not the case.

I hated all my professors who were lifetime education who never actually did any of the stuff they are trying to teach about. My favorites were my accounting teachers who taught night classes and ran their own businesses during the day. This has nothing to do with political opinion necessarily, but it does seem coincidental that the ones who never actually accomplished anything were usually the die hard liberals.

Then how come so many of my economics professors serve on advisory boards, work for economic modeling institutions, do market investment work, etc...

I never claimed to have a lifetime of experience. I was just refuting mrsleeve's implication that I've "never gone out on my own and made my own money"

    1) NO not all BS, certainly no, but for me the classes I have been in have had way more BS in them than one would think, and too many kids take it all to seriously.

    2) Good, continue to seek them out

    3) maybe so but I can only go on the info you have given me to work with

Good luck with law school you plan on using that for a career in politics????? (cheap shot I know :D just could not resist)

For the Record I am not a Boosh fan boy, and did not support Iraq (right war wrong time with no international backing was a stupid move). But the issue remains that we are there for better or worse and we have to support our Armed services and the their mission there and see it though to the end. We mush finish what we have started, something my grandpa taught me, and one of life's greatest lessons on a personal or a international scale. If we dont there will be a victory declared (no matte how hollow) and will become a rallying cry for all the weirdos and extremist out there

We are just gonna have to agree to disagree, and leave it at that

BTW just so you know Conservative Independent, I dont care about party line. Also have been on my own since I moved out, I was 17, had some help from friends families here and there but yeah I guess I am jaded and grew up early.

I feel that way, because I used to think the same way, and then I grew out of it, when I was 16-19 I was spewing everything I'd been told as the truth, then I guess with age became jaded.

I see the same thing in my little brother, Freshman in College now. He its and berates my opinions with spiels that I would have used 10+ years ago.

I recall a quote I'll have to find to address this.

    Variants...

"Any man who is under 30, and is not a liberal, has no heart; and any man who is over 30, and is not a conservative, has no brains."

"Show me a young conservative and I'll show you someone with no heart. Show me an old liberal and I'll show you someone with no brains."

"If you are not a socialist by the time you are 25, you have no heart. If you are still a socialist by the time you are 35, you have no head."

You must see how I can connect those dots based on your posting on politics and world views cant you.

Actually, it was $16.75 + incentive when I left, but yes, I see your point. And I plan on going to law school, so I hope I will earn more than $10/hr. I realize how much greater the taxes are. Who I vote for is determined by where these taxes go. Right now, I think Obama is doing an okay job. Certainly a better job than Bush, who spent our taxes on a mis-managed war that has borne poor results at best. Still, Obama could be doing better. I'll reiterate what I said before--I think he should hold off on fixing health care because he is trying to do too much too quickly.

there already is a rebate program for home insulation and energy efficiency.. it just doesn't give you as much. it covers 1/3rd up to like $500. I'm actually having insulation installed under the floor of my 1920's house, the local energy company is paying for half and the federal government will pay a third, leaving me with 20%. :)

fundamentally it's not a bad idea. Future energy savings could actually end up saving the government and everyone else some money. This is the kind of stuff the government should have spent money on - along with road, water, electric and bridge ugprades - instead of the welfare BS we got instead. Unfortunately I somehow doubt the goverment will be able to nail the execution on this one..

printing money at this rate, it would be wise to buy as many E30s as possible. They will be worth eighty grand each in ten years.
