Dell or HP laptop?

If you want a good laptop you look at either makers enterprise line. Both Dell and HP has shitty consumer laptops (with HP edging out dell for total shittiness).
You know people who buy their cheap laptops. I know about 800 people who have dells that havent broken after months. THey are thier Latitude business laptops.Leave a comment:

No. This is with clean OS installs, and Linux. I had to step down the CPU to 800mhz to keep it from overheating and shutting itself off. After I cleaned the fan and heatsink, I could leave it at full power, but if I ran too much of a load or didn't keep the fan intake 100% clear of anything and everything it would overheat. I was getting CPU temps of 78 degrees celcius with the vent 100% clear if I ran anything CPU intensive.Leave a comment:

Id like to say that maybe a handful of you ACTUALLY know what you're talking about from experience.
And then I'd like to say that the rest of you are just regurgitating what you're retarded friends tell you happened to them...

Isn't all this "its slow after 6 months" more to do with keeping your computer clear of malware/extra stuff running in the background?
We have a 7 year old dell desktop at home, that still runs just fine.Leave a comment:

I forgot to mention that Dell's chargers have a little code chip in them, and if the laptop doesnt pick up the signal from it, it will not charge. And they like to fry, or the wire connected to the plug that goes into the laptop breaks off. I've had 3 chargers go bad. Never again.Leave a comment:

I bought a Dell laptop about 9 months ago, paid just under 2 grand for one with all the bells and whistles and upgrades, it's now slow, freezes up, and the corner of the case is cracked and falling apart and I hardly use the stupid thing. I wouldn't go with Dell again, but that's just my story.Leave a comment:

HP hands down. I just picked up a dv6 and i am really impressed. I bought a Dell laptop about two years ago, and after about 6 months it started running really shitty. I put linux on it, hoping it would run better. Come to find out it was overheating and the Windows drivers were stepping down the CPU speed. Even after cleaning the fan and heatsinks thoroughly, it still got really fucking hot.Leave a comment:

I've had my HP dv6000t for over 3 years with absolutely zero hardware problems. I've also had a ton of experience with both brands and I know HP makes far better products than Dell, you name it; printers, pda's, monitors, speakers, desktops, etc.
Edit: Dell is cheaper usually, but you get what you pay for.Leave a comment:

i have a Dell laptop (dell studio), my mom bought the inspiron at the same time, both are good, the customer service sucks because you get the durka durkas when you call. but mine came with vista 64bit, they sent me a free copy of windows 7 and i am on that now, the laptop is good. i hate HP, both the HP desktop and laptop that i have owned shit the bed within a month of owning it. yes i know how to use a computer, never get viruses or anything. on the laptop the charger port was fucked up on it, and they said "its a common issue, send it in, pay us 600 dollars and we'll look at it for you".....gtfo. on the desktop, the hard drive took a shit 2 times.
EDIT: i've been on the same dell desktop for 6 years now. i play world of warcraft and counter strike, it runs both smoothly and all i did was do an upgrade of 2GB of corsair DDR2. upgraded the hard drive to a 500gb as well. and it never gets shut off for a day.Leave a comment:

I have a cheap HP G60 laptop and love it. I don't play games and use my external hard drive to store everything so disk space is not an issue but its very reliable.Leave a comment:
