    for all the conspiracy theorists..

I found this quite enlightening. It's basically the history of where current conspiracy theories come from. It's long, but I read it over a couple days. It explains a lot of the polarized views here, as well as the bigotry towards people from both sides of the political spectrum.

interestingly, a lot of current political views/conspiracies come from a hoax document written more than 100 years ago.

I wish I could get my mom to read it (she's in the teabagger group), as she's always unknowingly spouting bigoted conspiracy theories. I'd like to get her renewed political energy directed at something constructive but it's delicate since it's wrapped around her religious views that I do not share.

Yeah, I'll be there today and tomorrow, then mon/tues/wed next week. The rest of the time we have off.

I wouldn't be there so much at all at the end of the year, but I didn't use my personal days so I could get my bonus.

I think there will be 4 people in the engineering dept today, out a usual 30!

This is the best time of year to work. At my job, we call holiday work "VIP" days. Vacation In Place.

There's this kid I go to school with who tried to get one of the physics professors to read some 500 page paper that "proves" the existence of "zero point energy" where basically matter can be created at will very easily, but the oil companies are hiding the technology.

Sucks, because he's smart (Electrical Engineering at UCSB and doing pretty well in his classes) and he's a really cool guy, he's just completely off the deep end and you can't help but poke fun at him which he's always taken in good humor. It's actually interesting listening to his lunacy. He's seen alien spacecraft, he knows all about the organization silently controlling the world, etc.

..I guess, at least he's not a scientologist.

I think people watch too many movies where there is an evil guy who wants to take over/destroy the world.

surely there are bad people but not like they are portrayed in movies.

it's kinda like kids.. I never realized how totally unrealistic having children is in movies until I had my own. Only it's a little harder to convince conspiracy theorists (especially the religous kind) that their ideas are illogical and mostly based in bigotry.

Hey my job is shut down for this 2 weeks, But most of us have not been home in the last 5 months, so its only fair.

Besides shutting down production for these 2 weeks used to be how it was everywhere 30-50 years ago other then the stores and things like that. Get your Xmass bonus and see you back the monday after new years, was pretty much the standard, As just a sign of appreciation for working your ass off the other 50 weeks of the year.
