              Yes. 7 is faster. Im running 7 Ulitmate (32bit) Ive noticed a big performance jump from Vista. (64bit)

                easiest windows installation in all my years of being a computer geek. seriously, I was impressed. all I did was set the clock, enter the CD Key and type my user name. It just "worked".

                    Did you just upgrade from XP/Vista to 7 or did you buy a new system with 7 per-installed? Just wondering because I'm going to upgrade some work computers from XP to 7 after the holidays.

                      I did it fresh on a new system, but still. I've done hundreds of fresh installs that were a huge waste of time and required endless reboots before everything was working.

                        I havent done an install myself yet, but never have I been so impressed with the out of the box performance of a Microsoft operating system. My XP installs get so tweaked for performance and other issues. Windows 7 just worked. I haven't fucked with anything that wasnt purely cosmetic.

                        My Gentoo build, on the other hand, is hacked to hell and back with many masked packages and kernel patches.

                          You could have just ran a temp file cleaner like Ccleaner and you wouldnt have had to blow away your profile.

                            the profile was fresh anyway, this laptop is only like 2 weeks old.
