    scotch

I'm looking for someone to school me on some good scotch but for not a whole lot of cash (still have to make rent but would like to indulge a little bit)

My brother gave my dad a bottle of walker gold label for christmas and it wet my appetite. I've picked up a couple of nice cigars and they're looking for a friend. single malt, blend doesn't really matter. as long as its delicious I am not a snob.

    discuss.

I drink Genfiddich 12 year, it is a single malt, very distinct flavor and extremely smooth. I have never branched out in terms of scotch whisky but after reading about the Johnny Walker Gold I might pick up a bottle.

What are you Looking to spend? Glenfiddich 12 and 16yr are nice. Aberlour 12, 14, and 16; Macallan 16yr. Balvenie 12yr, Double cask and single barrels are a little more expensive but really nice. Dewars 12 and 18yr scotches are really nice too. Do some research on the different types, North Highlands, Speyside, lowlands, etc. it'll give you an idea of what kind of character each area has, also realize that most of the distilleries there blend each other's whiskeys to create their own, Such as Macallan and Glenfiddich.

          HRD is the best scotch.

I think $18 a half is about right.

If you wanna, you could hold out for the cheapo stuff.

I got a bottle of Dewar's 12 in my stocking this year, and man is it delicious!

I had JW Red before, and it tasted like coal...as did the black.

x2 on the Genfiddich, it's a great single malt with a cigar.

My fav's int the $50 category are:

Redbreast (only Irish single malt available in US) it has a kinda of mineraly taste. triple distilled my fav

Macallan "Cask Strength" this is very nice. try watering it in different concentrations the flavor will change

I usually drink Glenfiddich as it is widely available and honest. I do have a soft spot for Glenlivet as it offers a very distinctive taste of burnt wood. BTW There are hundreds of good single malt scotch made in Scottland. Most being unknown to us as they may even be too small to distribute worldwide.

Wrong. They are both great in their own ways.
