I got a bottle of blue label for Xmas. Can't wait to crack into it soon. Typically I drink Black Label on the rocks when I'm out and about.

The Macallan does not have a 16 aged in either Oloroso or virgin oak casks. They have an 18 Sherry and 17 Fine Oak. Their 12 is good when opened with a splash of water.
In my opinion, Glenlivet 12 is a great benchmark. It does not blunder in any direction. It is restrained, light bodied, with restrained oak notes. It will allow you to properly taste other whiskies. Think of it as a gateway to enjoying other fine malts.-OVULATOR (as named by jflip2002)

The Laphroaig 10 year is the most richly flavoured of all. They call it 'The Big Smoke'. On the nose it has moss peat, sea water (cause they leave the barrells in the sea spray for 10 years) and thick smoke. The flavour is long and complex, with the smoke and peat lingering for an hour after your last sip.
Check out reviews for it on google, and www.laphroaig.com
My girlfriend got me a bottle for Xmas, oh boy oh boy she got it good later.

I stick with Bourbon. Knob Creek is gracing my cabinet now.
Every day I wake up we drink a lot of coffee and watch the CNN
Every day I wake up to a bowl of clover honey and let the locusts fly in.
Lobsterbacks attack the town again
Wrap all my things in aluminum
Beams of darkness streak across the sky
Pink rays from the ancient satellite
Every time I look out my window same three dogs looking back at me.
Every time I open my windows cranes fly in to terrorize me.

So I opened my Glenlivet 18 tonight, and man was it delicious!
BTW, this is my first post of 2010, and my first purchase of 2010 was you guessed it, a Macallan 12 Year and a Glenfiddich 18 Year Ancient Reserve.
Scotch Scotch Scotch, I love my scotch!
So my by tomorrow I will have 4 bottles of Scotch on my shelf.
Dewar's 12 year Special Reserve - opened, good to share with first time scotch drinkers.
Macallan 12 year - unopened
Glenfiddich 18 year Ancient Reserve - unopened
Glenlivet 18 year - delicious scotch to enjoy anytime

Glenlivet has a very particular burnt wood taste. Congratulation in your scotch tastes...Brake harder. Go faster. No shit.
