    r3v'd

a few days before xmas this retard r3v'd my e24 in a parking lot caving in the drivers 1/4.
his insurance is going to pay but the cars totaled according to my body guy/ the estimate is 3500.00... ive heard a lot of guys talking about this but have never paid much attention. i assume the insurance company will total the car and offer me a settlement. the thing is, it was a really nice car. 84 633 csi 5 speed. 124k and im the second owner. it has its issues but they are minor and its a really nicely cared for smooth car. iada lists the value at
Low Retail Average Retail Value High Retail
    $4,350 $6,200 $7,500

but i doubt they go by that. anyone have any advice i should know before starting to deal with the insurance company?? thanks

get as many recent sales, adds and selling prices as you can find in the condition of your before you got r3ved. Take them in with you when you have to deal with the ass holes Insurance out fit and see if you just get them to pay you that value or ver close to it while you keep the car, or just fix it for you.

When I had to deal with the insurance company after they totaled one of my e30's the wording in their documents was "Replacement Value" I argued and fought with them to give me enough money to "replace" the vehicle I had. That insisted of looking at autotrader ads, ebay, forums, etc. I also had all receipts and documentation proving that I had done quite a bit of maintenence and a few upgrades. I was able to prove to them that the car was not your average 20yr old beater car, and that it should fetch good money.

Put on some of that good calogne, slick your hair back, and a tight suit, you'll have no problem getting what you want!

Do this and just keep annoying them. Sooner or later they will get tired of you and offer you more money. That's more or less what happened when mine got r3ved. With enough bitching they even payed the storage fees while I was on vacation.

Correct, they'll probably send you a letter/packet stating that this is how much we'll give you, sign here, and forget about it. And in the same letter/packet, it will probably say you do not agree. Its been so long, but I honestly dont remember spending that much time on the phone, but the phone may be a good form of communication...
