School Me on HDMI Cables Please

I said twice I ordered the cables already. The 360 I have is somewhat new and indeed has an HDMI port, And newegg is just as pricey or more expensive for the cables. I did build my pc from newegg a while back and use them a lot.

Oh didn't catch that. Sorry. Oh I had a launch 360 didn't have the hdmi output. Just recently sold it after being sorely disappointed with Forza 3. Picked up a ps3 and anxiously waiting for GT5.

Gt5's gunna have weather, and night racing. That's enough for me.

then I'll prolly order my cables later tonight. I know I need male to male for the xbox, but can anyone confirm I need male to male for the directv box to the back of the tv?

You might want to check the back of the box. Mine doesn't even have an HDMI output. It has a DVI out, so I had to get a DVI-HDMI cable. And because of that, I have to use an optical cable for the audio.

^ignore this. It's wrong. They are the wrong impedance. Componet video needs 75 Ohm.

You can use them in a pinch, but no self respecting audio/videophile would ever be caught with this.

I think he meant that if you were to use 3 of the yellow composite cables as "component" (red green blue) cables, that would work.

Likewise, if you are using a digital coaxial connection (kinda like a digital "RCA" cable) you can also use one of those yellows you might have laying around. They are much cheaper than the fancy "digital coaxial audio" cables in the store.

Nova, thx. We have 1 HD box already and I'm pretty sure I need a male on both ends, but we'll see. $5 cable, so if I need something else, I'll order it.

Yes male to male 99% of the time unless you are extending a cable. I'm just curious, why 15 footers?

No reason, my friend linked it and they were less than $6 each, so if I need to down the road, I have the room. If I want, I can always order shorter.

Only thing I have to add is that Forza 3 sucks ass due to the little loading circle. I watch that thing more than I race most of the time.

Hmmmmm, good to know. The load times on Forza 2 seemed longer than necessary as well. I just ordered Fallout 3 from Amazon and sent off an email to a local on craigslist for Left for dead 2. Should tide me over for a while.

Whats with almost all the cables on monoprice mentioning inwall installation. Does that just mean its rated or insulated so you can run in behind walls but you don't have too right? Just looking for something to hook up the laptop to the TV.

I'm not sure, I'm guessing it's safe for in wall install... I'm just running it out in the open cause I don't care... xbox is right next to the tv, just coiled the excess and zip tied it.
