I have no idea what my state has, but I have like 15 speeding tickets since I started driving and still have my license. I haven't gotten pulled over in over two years though because I've slowed down a lot, but overall, cops can lick my taint.

+1 for don't speed. I've still never gotten a speeding ticket ever, and don't mind being the slow one on the road. It saves so little time that the extra stress and brain power needed to drive safely at speed just isn't worth it. Or at the least, speed intelligently.

I've never had an issue here with the dmv or excessive fines here in CO either. Move out of NY?

I got my license at 8am when they opened when I was 16 and there was no line so I think I'll take my chances this weekend since it expires today, or have the girlfriend drive me around. Car is just now startin to get worked on. Looks like a hassle, put it up in the air this morning.

i really think the speed limits should be increased again, 55 on a freeway? i see minivan moms hitting exit ramps at that shit all the time. people don't even go 55 in the slow lane.

i think if they bumped it up to 65-70 it would be perfect, for highways.... residential areas i dont fuck with though, especially school zones.

i just fly under the radar, i never do more than 10mph over because theres a 10% error margin for a radar gun. the law can S my D when it comes to catching me speeding.

Most of the Pennsylvania Turnpike is 55. I was about to lose it driving back from NJ. I could have made much better time if I could have done 75-80 for 350 miles..

I first tried the monday I was back but their computers were down. I had a three month extension courtesy of being out of the country so I didn't have to get it done then. I put it off until xmas eve, took 30 seconds at 10:30 or so. However, showing my expired ID and having to explain that birthdates don't expire to less-than-intelligent barmen was tiring so I haven't been going to the bars a whole lot.

On Topic: I have a good buddy who managed to get four 10+ mph tickets in a span of a few months when we were 17. He ended up having his license revoked for a few months without knowing it. I don't think his fines were more than $1-200 / ticket tho.

70-75MPH is my cruise speed. Just low enough to go under the radar. I couldn't imagine driving 55 on the PA turnpike. The tractor trailers would run you off the road for driving that slow. The nice thing about my MD license is that all speeding tickets less than 30mph over (or under 85MPH) are treated the same. 25 over is the same as 5 over, and by and large, the cops don't really care that much within that range.

Of course, in virginia, 20 over, or 80MPH is a criminal offense with a mandatory court date.

In DC, I still haven't really figured out what it takes to get a ticket. We regularly have cops "escorting" the flow of traffic at 50 in a 25. (DC has 4 lane divided roads with 25MPH speed limits. Insane.)

Haven't gotten a ticket since I was 16 by travelling (most of the time) within speeds that cops don't ticket for.

Just my opinion - With the exception of California, the further North and East you go in the USA, the more the state and local governments get all up in your business and charge you big $ for all kinds of BS, and try to control everything you do. Here in Nevada (And don't get me wrong, NV sucks in other ways) there's no state, county, or city income tax, you won't get a speeding ticket unless you're driving like an idiot, and you can get a concealed carry permit if you're into that kind of thing. I hear these "big brother" stories from the Great Lakes and Northeast states, and I would never in a million years move there and put up with that crap. No offense intended to the residents of those regions; I hear that the fall colors and snow are pretty to look at.

The only exception to the above is that in Henderson, NV, the cops will shoot you on the spot if they catch you speeding in a school zone. I was warned when I moved here and never tried it out.

So far I havent been pulled over, ever, which is a surprise because my car is loud as fuck, as it has no muffler, exhaust comes right out of the end of the cat, I need to replace exause soon, because my MPG sucks and I have no power.
