found both my m-audio mixer and my v700 phones with google. i can verify durability on both; they lived through a tour in iraq. kinda like if burning man lasted an entire year.
the m-audio doesn't have a jog wheel, just forward/back buttons that can be MIDI-assigned so if you are just getting started you probably want to learn on something else. i think numark came out with a similar-but-bigger USB/MIDI device with more traditional controls. if you get used to a setup like that then the learning curve for pioneer CDJs will be shallow, and that's what most clubs have. or you could just get real CDJs, but when I thought about what i wanted to do with $2k, the turbo setup won out.Leave a comment:

since i'm a huge electronic music lover, i've always wanted to try mixing. for a while i started collecting records but never got a mixer or some nice decks.
Are there any good places online to shop some equipment?
ps: enjoying the mixes on pyramidhead :)Leave a comment:

started off with a djm-500 and 1200-m3ds back in 2000.
these days i'd rather spend the money on the car, so ableton/traktor with an m-audio x-session. i gig out on whatever they have; as long as it has a jog wheel and a pitch knob it's all the same thing.
conventional techno and d'n'b got kinda stale to me a while back, and thankfully a friend from the east coast turned me on to power noise, which is kind of a free-form genre for ppl who like industrial. some of it sounds like techno, some like trance, some d'n'b, the only real genre rules are it should sound aggressive and distorted.
mixes are at http://www.pyramidhead.net/Leave a comment:
