Yep, Core 2 Duo is where it's at. The days of the Thunderbird are long gone.

well i7 is now, but anything less than a core2duo these days is just a waste of money. Especially with i5's and i7's starting to gain a lot more ground, pentium dual cores and core duos are hopefully going to die off soon.

We're talking about a laptop here. I dig quadcore just as much as the next guy but until we start seeing more programs that can thread-split amongst 4 cores it's just not that much of an advantage.

Also, what the fuck is up with retarded laptop screens? I used to be able to get a 15.4" screen with WSXGA+ (1680*1050) or WUXGA (1920*1200) resolution. Now there are maybe 1 or 2 laptops that I've seen with actual high-resolution medium sized screens, otherwise you have to go to 17"+ (which often still doesn't support 1080p). That's my one serious gripe with the new Macbooks too.

If you're going to spend money on a laptop, you might as well get one that's going to last you more than a year. If I was in the market for one I would be all over that i5 dell.

Like what? It seems solid. The keyboard its a little soft in the middle but its lighted. Ummm...no real complaints. Eventually it will become a hackintosh.

90% of those reviews are retarded, I like the guy who had to "take the battery out and hold the power button down to discharge the static so the mouse would work again"

I work at geek squad (not that is means a whol lot), but I get to play with all the new laptops as they come out, and obviously fix shit when they come back. The studio 15 is a solid laptop compared to most of the crap out there. My only grip is it's slot loading dvd, I don't like those.

As for random HW failures, yeah it can happen. I've sent a couple few month old dells back to service to get repaired. But at the same time, I have done that for every manufacturer that we sell.

I would take any of those reviews good or bad with a grain of salt.

HDMI is amazing. My Asus has it, and I just got a 32" lcd, best thing ever.
