I know in spokane Avista likes to raise the rates in january, so people always get screwed.

prolly has more to do with the new years annual rate adjustments to keep the place running and making power so you have light.

Why dose everyone always assume that the Utilities are out to screw everyone they have over head, and operating costs, infrastructure to build maintain and upgrade, fuel to buy, people to pay. get real dude

So I ran a check on the Model of the central AC/Heating system and as I expected it's a gas based heating system (which was clearly evident by the copper pipes running in and the pilot light. I'll take a pic tomorrow of the meter setup outside and I'm sure you'll all agree the meter is completely off in calibration and setup. The problem isn't the weather, I have a consistent increase of about 45% in usage each month going all the way back to August when we first moved in, and We didn't use AC or heat in August, September and most of October.

I just had my meter replaced with the "ERT" meter. It's able to be read from the street. Is the meter dial spinning like 15 rpm??? What is your KWH cost? Mine is 12 cents. This should be interesting to see.

Are you in a multiple unit apartment? Mixups and cross-circuits can definitely happen there especially in older ones where the wiring looks shady it usually is. Could even be that the neighbor is getting your bill and you're getting his.

A friend of mine was actually in a situation where everyone shared an electric drier and the basement was on HIS meter. First few months he got boned until they worked something out.

The house is independent and just finished a full renovation in July, we moved in August

Our gas bill went up. Possibly due the CAT gas turbine I have running in the basement.
