    Campaign spending

Now this is bullshit. As if money wasn't already a big enough factor in elections, now it will likely be the SOLE factor in determining who wins an election. I like how they framed it as a first amendment issue when it obviously is not, ESPECIALLY if we are talking publicly traded companies. I also like how it didn't even make the headlines. This will have big implications this year and in 2012 and beyond.

The Supreme Court has given big business, unions and nonprofits more power to spend freely in federal elections, a major turnaround that threatens a century of government efforts to regulate the power of corporations to bankroll American politics.

That's right. What am I thinking? I'm used to sailing Down Under with the Kiwis so everything's backwards. Even the toilets, when you flush them, the water spins the opposite way. Really freaks you out the first time you see it.

What pisses me off is that what is going to make the headlines is Obamas alligator tears protest of this decision. Anybody who wants a voice for their future, that is not a union or big business voice is screwed.

And IMHO the fix was in. The company hurt by the existing law, which technically was a teeeny bit unconstitutional, wasnt hurt so bad that they needed to just hand the whole keys to the kingdom over to the Powers That Be.

It was only unconstitutional because of the rights granted to a corporation. What they should have done is redefined the rights of corporations.

Given the helmets they are wearing, that sounds about right.
