It puffs your clothes and reads the air for traces of explosives it may have puffed off of you. Lets say you made a bomb the morning of and tried to take a flight. And Denver is DEN not DIA.

O'Hare sucks a fat cock. Its setup stupid and is a dump. Just sayin.

The TSA is fucking retarded. I dont get harassed by them but just get to see their stupidity slow down the process twice a week.

Oh I see what you did there.

Yeah well this is boiling down to "what do you expect, you get what you pay for" and Govt employee what do you expect.

          Privatization???????????

I don't think privatization is the answer. The idea of the lowest bidder being in charge of our flying safety scares me more than the government being in charge of it.

no, they all are required to take all of the tests. And when you see a TSA employee away from the x-ray, its just because theyre in rotation. Much like any other security admin.

They probably rotate them to cut down on their daily radiation exposure.

They tell you the machines are safe, and yet when the dentist x-rays you, they still leave the room...

Yeah your right they leave the room. But YOU DONT GET SHIT FOR EXPOSUREfrom a medical Xray. I soak up more Ionizing radiation in 2 days than most of you will ever get in a life time of medical use. ( I work with much higher intensity sources than any med equipment)

They leave the room to cut exposure period, why get it if you dont need to. ALARA is the mantra all x-ray techs live by As Low As Reasonably Achievable. If you can get away from it then do so.

The way a baggage scanner is set up there is very little back scatter, the Tube (xray generator) is a Directional tube, In other words it generates and focus the xray in 1 direction, as opposed to a 360* tube which emits all the way around the center of the tube (not much longitudinally in either type) then you have all the shielding <----- Lead , between the general public and the operators. the only place you may receive any more radiation then standing in the sun is by standing right against the machine's open ends. Even then there is very little exposure.

YOU GET MORE radiation from the plane flight than you do from the security check point including the new full body scanners that work with back scatter (no direct xray pointed at you)

Plus if you work with radiation at all in any capacity no matter how little or often your exposure is monitored, You must wear a film badge that records your exposure that is sent out every month to track what you are getting, in many cases you have to wear a dosimeter that tracks your day to day exposure that you record on your own log, and reset each day as well. I have to other detection devices that I am required to use by law as well, but only because of the intensity of what I work with (I work with GAMMA RAY mostly).

You and your employer are fully aware of what your exposure rates are on a daily basis, so not they dont necessarily have to rotate in and out to limit exposure. By law you are allowed to get 5R per year occupationally, I get about 2 - 2.5 R a year those baggage guys I would be willing to wager dont even get 1 R in a year occupationally
