I was just looking at my car insurance rates. Its like jumping from 45-85 monthly. WTF. I only have liability and no records. 30yr/o. I asked my agent about this before and his best answer is that it just varies and he has no control over it. Sounds like BS.

Ins. Companies are always adjusting their rates with new data and statistics. Some times it goes up a little some times down. But not by 40 bucks a month. Mine is about 44 a month and I am your age.Originally posted by FusionIf a car is the epitome of freedom, than an electric car is house arrest with your wife titty fucking your next door neighbor.

So you're paying monthly?
I pay yearly (for my bike anyways), and the rate keeps going down every year (maximum coverage obtainable costs me $380/yr).
There was a rather large difference between paying in installments and lump sum.

Like sleeve said, the underwriters for INS companies will re-examine all data points affectng your rates everytime your policy renews.
Zip code, crime, age, sex, commute length, are just a few of the sometimes HUNDREDS of variables that affect your rates.

^ Damn... I wish I only paid that much. I'm 22 and I'm paying $187/mo for my WRX now. I guess it's not that bad considering statistics say I WILL crash this car. lol-Erik

Hmm. Insurance company math probably looks something like this:
22y-old male
+
WRX
=
$$$$$$$$$$
unless it's a wagon, in which case:
$$$$

sounds like you're getting hosed. I've heard of 4 to 5% changes to cover things like new local and federal regulations, and inflation......but a 90% change....someone's fucking with you.Originally posted by accidentI have achieved the title of Douche of the month.

Its funny you should mention this OP....
I have Nationwide and with my first E30, it was 42 a month. It suddenly spiked to 80 like yours, and it was just liability and comprehensive. The e36 full coverage was 60 then jumped to 89 a month.. Called this morning to take the E36 off and put the new e30 on, and its back down to 46 a month, which I am assuming will become 60-70 in a few months. No fucking clue why and my dudes are Nationwide couldnt tell me either.
OH, and Im 25 with no records. I have lost my license twice but taken care of everything. Been a clean driver for several years. Go figure.
