Sheds are for whimps. No - there were some for sale around here - but they were over priced or too small.Last edited by george graves; 05-21-2013, 03:05 AM.Originally posted by Matt-Bhey does anyone know anyone who gets upset and makes electronics?Comment

I decided to enclose an outside area off the side of my present coop, then It started raining, I've been here less and outside more since the weather has changed.

My building is overkill for some chickens, but it was here, so I re purposed it for what it is. My dogs don't need a condo, so the chickens get it, and I have not bought eggs, save for easter egg hunt since.Comment

It might very well be the angle, but nothing in that picture looks real square or plum. Is it on a slope at all? Are your piers set and level? Dry mix, concrete or peat gravel for the footings on the new uprights?Need a part? PM me.

Posts set in concrete, 32" depth, square to Tuffshed, one 2x4 across the top. Roof is just cut and set up, not screwed in. Mild slope front to rear, and side to side, this is just an enclosure, not really structural, just trying to reclaim the acre the chickens have the run of now so I can get the Chihuahua's, Lab's, and Pyrenees' put away. 1x3's, and chicken wire, with Clear plastic corrugated panels for the roof.Comment

32" is a bit overkill but sturdy as shit I bet. Sounds solid though.
That's a lot of dogs, dude. How many total??Need a part? PM me.

It's either been raining here - or I've been too busy to work on this thing.
I did poke around in sketchUp. I was looking to figure out the best proportion for doors, windows, roof, ect. What 'ya think?

That window opening - I enlarged it from the original plans. It's now 4 feet wide. I went with a couple of diagonals to help spread the load over that long span. I think the the end result will look nice.
I was thinking of building the other identical wall on top of this one? Or maybe I'll just mark the base while it's still there and all square. What would the pro's do?Originally posted by Matt-Bhey does anyone know anyone who gets upset and makes electronics?Comment

Wow. It's like a roll cage for chickens.
Also, keep in mind, to keep them laying, they will need 12 hours of light, and 12 of dark, you might want to just keep the window/door on front and install a light inside.
( Also, I really hate scraping chicken shit off glass, you will too.)Comment

Lol. It's a 4' wide window. I didn't want it to sag.
The only glass with be the front window. The sides are going to be hatch doors that swing up and open for airing it out during the day, cleaning, aesthetics.
I built another wall, all on top of the other. It was really easy to do it that way. Now I have two identical walls - woot.

Tidy frames.
If you're running a rafter alone the top (they appear to be raking?) you don't really need the diagonals, but they certainly wont hurt.
Also, if you're cladding with ply, I be inclined to add some more nogs. About 500mm/c would be good.
Also also, what timber do you use over there?sigpicComment
