It is most certainly rob.
As far as i'm concerned, as soon as a new generation of car is produced, the previous generation ceases to be a status symbol (if it even qualifies in the first place)
if the e30 was made by Chrysler, Mercury, Lada, Renault, whatever. I would still like it for being a good looking compact RWD car with an inline 6.
Is an E30 prestigious?

I feel a bit embarrassed for my 12y/o daughter when I pick her up at school in mine. All the other parents are driving 40-60k cars, and mine was free. All her friends think it's awesome, and all the MILFS stare! I don't think it is really prestige, but it is something a bit "special" in a cool way. I do feel like I am in a FERRARI when I am in my E30M3 though!Leave a comment:

bumping this thread, cause after seeing the comments in the thread with the e30 and a GM V6 in it and a few other comments through out the board in other threads. I got to wonder what the new guys on board think. Personaly i think the e30 is a great car. but it's not the bees knees... Cause every car has its problems, no matter who made it.Leave a comment:

That right there is my dream car (I wouldn't turn it down if it had flares either). I'd rather have a 3.0 CSL than an e30 m3.
I'm absolutely 100% certain the average joe wouldn't know what it is, or even that it's a BMW unless they were close enough to see the badges, but that doesn't and won't matter to me at all. If I'm ever in a good position to buy one, I will.Leave a comment:

true. all the ferrari's, vettes, and 911's are getting all the attention. The problem is though, that nobody but us knows what the fuck that is. ONLY and I mean ONLY enthusiasts know what that is. I bet 90% of people who own a BMW from 1999 and up would have no clue what that was if you took off the Roundels. Same with an m1, z1, Isetta.... That's the problem, they look ahead, we look back.
PS thanks for the Rob, OGs know.
It seems like the passion in BMW is gone. they are no longer making motorsport cars, but filling a gap in the market between mercedes and audi
what is the deal with rob anyways?Leave a comment:

Yes, it was. My older brother's rich friends drove them in the 80's and got lots of waffleswaffleswaffleswaffleswaffles doing so. Now I drive one and girls run away from it screaming nerd. But it's ok, it's prestige is recognized by the right people, the people who actually give a shit about the car, its history, and where it will be in 10 years.
An e46 owner turned his nose up at my car once. I said one thing to him. "do you actually think your car will be worth anything in 50 years? Do you think you will actually see a market for restoration for your 328i in 20 years? Would you buy that car in 20 years?" He responded something like "no I would buy the newest Bimmer on the market" or something. I then said "well that's the difference between you and I, and our cars."
Fuck it. i like it, I didn't buy it to look cool or get respect from strangers. i get props b/c the love that i have for it is apparent in the way i treat it. That's it.

I think e30 m3's are the most prestigious BMW, right after the e9 3.0csl, which is a straight out sex goddess

some people do
mainly older people with really clean e30's, i don't think any e30's now are necessarily prestigious accept for the M3's, and there are some exceptionsLeave a comment:
