    Cop slammed by car

Ever too lazy to put those chains on?
The Weather Channel and weather.com provide a national and local weather forecast for cities, as well as weather radar, report and hurricane coverage

"Mar. 1, 2010 Icy roads after Friday's storm caused a near-death experience for this police officer near Cleveland Saturday. Lt. John Lambert pushed an 18-year-old out of the way before taking the hit. He suffered multiple fractures."

Damn, some kid he probably pulled over too. For all the shitty cops, there are definitely some good ones.

Saw this on the news tonight. Cop pushed the other guy out of the way right before the hit and saved him from injury. The cop broke his hip and eye socket I believe. He is doing ok right now in the hospital. Pretty crazy. Hope he recovers quickly.

In Ohio, one should be accustomed to winter (unlike the CHP, who appears to demand snow chains on everything when clouds roll in).

Yet another reason I have no faith in journalism anymore. Are they so afraid to assign blame to the driver who was acting the fool, that they have to blame the weather?

Driving like an idiot with bald tires is no excuse. Good on the cop for paying attention to his surroundings. I hope they throw the book at that fool.

Put down the burger, put down the phone, put both hands on the wheel and look at the damn road.

I pulled over on the median like that once just outside of Binghamton, NY. Cop saw my license, "Don't know how they do things in Oregon, but in NY we pull over to the right. Shoulder or not, it's not safe to pull over to the left. I'll signal you when it's clear to cross over to the right hand shoulder..."

I then got a ticket for 87 in a 55 in a 1983 thunderbird. That thing was like driving a waterbed in overdrive.

i think studded tires are a better alternative.... snow chains are worthless on ice,

They (state DOTs) also seem to totally discount how much snow tires have improved in the last 30 years.

My e30 with hakkas works in everything until it's beached. I have yet to get stuck, except at ice races when I have too much fun and end up on top of a snow bank.

More like, pushes him "out of his way" then "out of the way"

Nothing against cops, and I give credit where credit is due, but I watched that video like 28 times. I've come to the conclusion that the cop doesn't actually push the kid out of the way. He just briefly puts his hand on him as he is trying to jump past him. The kid moves when he touches him which tricks the eye, but the kid actually jumps backward over the railing at the last second and that's what saved him.
