I cant believe you all in this thread????
BMw has that on almost every newer (in the last 5 years).
yeah, its not great for toe/heal driving, but really-- i think 1% of the new car drivers out there actually know what that even is leat alone do it in thier new Toyota.

It is actually not a bad thing at all-- if you are on the brake pedal you dont need to accel. too 99% of the time on a public road.-- and it will save the car from alot of wear too.

and.... the government implementing alot of "dumb" rules keeps alot of crap off the street. I am sure in the late 50s when seatbelts became mandatory everyone said the same thing as you all here.

Whatever, Mikeedler. You have to admit that there's a certain point when the Government has to realize it cannot control every aspect of every person's life so as to avoid bad things happening. Bad things happen. Smart and/or responsible people realize this and take steps OF THEIR OWN ACCORD to not further any bad things from happening to themselves and their loved ones. It's not the Government's job to be my Mother.

I'm sure people thought it was stupid to put seat belts in or make them mandatory. And you know what? I still think it's wrong that the Government (at least here in Washington State) has made them MANDATORY to wear or they can pull you over and ticket you $125.00. Pretty much giving them the all clear to pull you over for WHATEVER they want because you can't tell 9 times out of 10 if another driver is wearing their seat belt... I was pulled over two nights ago for "suspicion of not complying with local buckle up laws". Then asked me to step out. Then asked if he could search the car. I told him I thought he was out of bounds, stepped out as were his wishes and let him search my vehicle. But I wasn't happy about it.

      Let me re-cap...

Yes, I think it's wrong and not the Government's job, Federal or State, to tell me to buckle up.
No, I don't think it's smart driving without a seat belt and will not, if I am the driver, drive anywhere when someone is not buckled. I remind everyone in my car to buckle up.
Yes, I think that it's a person(s) choice to be retarded and drive their dumb ass around not buckled up.
YES, I think it should be 100% MANDATORY that a child is buckled up properly (in before all the, "You don't think children should be safe?? You hate children??" arguements).

This is all wildly off topic, but you get the idea.

That's what Jeremy Clarkson told me the other night.
