After Chile's earthquake, the coast here in PEru, were quite calmed, but the sea retrieved (is fine that word?) in some cases 50/100 or up to 200 meters from the beach. Then it came back. Happend like twice. Almost tsunami alert. Few year sback we ahd a very strong earthquake. Probably we will get a very very good one one of these days.

But that was exactly my point when I said, "The Bible surely ain't straightforward." Everything in it is couched in hidden meanings and distorted mumbo jumbo.

When I read "Serpent", I interpret that to mean "snake". Of course it could also have meant "Sea Serpent", as in Loch Ness monster, etc. How silly of me to have jumped to the simpler conclusion that it merely meant a "snake".

All of the dumbed-down comic book versions of the Adam & Eve fable illustrate it as a snake and an apple. So what if it was actually supposed to be a "Serpent" and a "Fruit from the tree"? Are you going to try to convince me that this entirely changes the symbolism of the whole story, based on your own interpretation.

A talking Loch Ness monster offering Eve a peach, plum, pear, banana, or any other "Fruit" is no more or less believable than a talking snake with an apple.

I stand firm and remain unconvinced that there ever were such things as talking snakes or talking "Serpents", nor a talking Serpent/snake offering an apple or a "Fruit from the tree" to either Adam or Eve, both of whom are also entirely fictitious.

Regardless of personal beliefs, I think a little respect is in order. I don't think I saw "n2bimmer" once claim anyone was going to hell if they didn't repent or start hurling the bible at anyone. In fact, as Farbin pointed out, he made a reference to the bible and was thrown insult after insult about how it's just for ignorant dumb hick fucks with no real logical reasoning and border on dilusional wack jobs that can't hold a job and blame everything on the unbelievers. Simmer down. Someone brought up the end of the world, he simply referenced one of the larger, well known sources of the end of times. I don't see why respect is quite so hard for some of you, but it really just shows how little you feel as a person and how threatened you are by anyone that does not agree with you. Strangely, you'd fit right in at one of those bible thumping, non-Christian hating churchs that bomb abortion clinics and stand on the corner with street signs than your average "Christian".

On this hilarious little ride of a thread, let me point out that if you want a more word for word translation concerning the Bible, ESV is a great choice.
