Does anyone know who those people are? I'm wondering because of all the underarmour hoodies. My best friend used to work for underarmour and the owner was a car guy I think...

I admit, I did not buy my first car (current car) but I do pay for ALL the repairs and modifications that I do to it. My parents do not put a dime into the car and it is a given that if I screw up and crash it then I pay the piper.Comment

This would have been deathsauce for me. I had no problems getting into trouble or should I say on the very edge of trouble with my stock Jetta when I was 16. I probably would have either wrecked and/or died if I had a car with over 200/250 hp when I turned 16...ส็็็็็็็็็็็็็็็็็็็็็็็็็Build Thread?Originally posted by blunttechI need you to exfoliate my ballsack

so you guys are saying, as a parent, you would not want to make your kid happy by buying him a sweet ass car for his 16th?
psh, if my father bought me a old ugly rs or z28 back in HS, i woulda loved it. imagine how much play that kid is gonna get now. lol.
but.
if he's a rich, conceited, preppy/yuppy fuck, then he can EAD. but if youre making decent money, your sons doin good in school, and you can afford it, wtf? why not?
you guys are haters. but i think youre hating on the wrong thing here. kid gets gifted, you say its over the top. just because its an SS.

I disagree. My parents and family is decently well off. What did I get for my 16th? I got nothing. I was told I didn't deserve a car nor was a responsible enough to have a car. 17th Birthday I got a Jeep Wrangler and a payment book. My dad took what I made working and figured out what I could afford. Then he added me to the family insurance. The deal was he made the down payment and created the loan to where I could afford it and the insurance and have money for gas. If I missed a payment and he had to pay it. Missed insurance. The Jeep would get sold.
There is no need to supply your 16 year old kid with a vehicle like that. They are not experienced enough and being handed something like that for MOST creates a lack of responsibility which I have experienced first hand with many in this world.
Does this happen with ALL kids. No. With many it does.

I agree on waiting to give him such a nice car. As most people said, it takes a couple years of driving to get some solid experience. My class mate got a (then) brand new Mustang GT in 07 with custom rims. He wrecked on the Wood Rd., same as our HS doing 70 (45 mph zone) with 3 passengers. In short, the car rolled 4 times, a couple dudes were ejected and needless to say the car was totaled. He was damned luck that everyone walked away, save one guy who had a concussion. Guess what he pulled up in beginning of senior year? 2010 Mustang Roush that is currently impounded (thank God)
Basically, not all people are ready for such cars at that age. But that Shane kid, he looks like he got his head on straight. Still would be better to get it at graduation.Bronzit 4-door Swap Drifting somewhere

Yes, a lot of this depends on how the parents handle the situation behind the scenes.I disagree. My parents and family is decently well off. What did I get for my 16th? I got nothing. I know very well off kids who rock 70s cars that have been sitting around with their family forever and some very well off kids that rock brand new Audi's or BMWs.
I honestly don't think one way is better than the other as long as the reason and parenting behind it is clear.
If the kid cries until they get a nice car, they are a bitch and don't deserve it. If they dont' ask for it, but the parent wants it for them (aside from being able to afford it, safety is on a lot of parents' minds) then I don't see a problem.
How much car you can handle at 16 is a whole different story. (Or how many dings you want to see a nice car get... HS parking lot ftl)Originally posted by z31maniacI just hate everyone.

Seems like a lot of less fortunate people trying to use "moral high-ground" and "working for it" as leverage to hate.
Also, IDK that WORKING FOR IT = REALLY CARING FOR IT.
My parents never bought me anything. They weren't into cars, they didn't care. I drove as shit car through high school, through college... I fucking WORKED for 8 years to get my first sti... And I fucking launched it out of the dealer, never changed the oil and drove it into the dirt. But I worked for it.Comment
