    Skee Ball

I know most people love the old arcade classic Skee Ball. I have the oportunity to pick one up this weekend for about $250. I have pictures that are going to go up later. It's in fair shape for a 50 year old machine. I'm 28 and this doesn't make a dent in me so it's not about the money or the fact my wife has our first child on the way. It would either take up 14' of space in my 2 car garage or 14' at my office in the inventory area. It will need a little work, but it beats shelling out $5000 for a brand new novelty. Plus it came from a place that was open 20 years ago and I most likely played this machine along with the rest of my town of 250k.

No lie the guy said I could have a dog if I bought the thing. I said right back how bout a caravan.

Awesome! I've played skee-ball machines just like that for years. I'd have a hard time passing up a deal like that too.

I'm in Shreveport. Oh it's def going to need a going over. The "carpet" stuff needs to be replaced. I'm going try and square off the metal work. I think over the years it was walked on. The rings just need a few screws and it will be perfect. I'm sure a once over with a magic eraser on the rings will make them just as white as piano keys. Matching the paint will be a pain so media blasting and repaint or polish and a clear coat. There is some mechanical stuff that needs to be addressed I think I can tackle. The only electrical part is the Winner light that lights up, everything including the counter is mechanical. I'm stoked about this thing, but work has to come first for the rest of the week.

Don't replace anything. Leave the half-a-century patina. Think of it as a 50 yar old Bimmer in tip top original condition. Would your respray the car?

I'm still pondering the purchase. I've yet to make contact with the supposed original owner.

Well as you can see I did it. Heavy and dirty is about what it boiled down to. I used 2 whole magic erasers cleaning her up. The plans call for replacing the cork (everything green), removing the stainless hardware and polishing it up well, and painting the yellow metal work and hammering out the dents. The counter mechanism is getting pulled, cleaned, and lubricated. Some wood needs replacing where the screws go. The bumpers on the lane might be replaced with a type of rope light that would trail. The brown portion is the first thing that will be repainted. Plenty of work, but I don't think it will be too bad.

this looks like rhino skin and has to go!
