    Canon EOS Rebel T2i purchased!

I've been an artist for the majority of my life, but the past couple years I grew tired of it and dropped art all together. I figured I'd start back up with a different medium this time -- photography. I did my research and decided Canon's new T2i addition to the EOS collection would be a perfect fit for me, but I had to get some goodies with it first. Afterall, I can't shoot with just a camera body. ;) My list is as follows:

    - Canon EOS Rebel T2i
    - Canon 430EX II external flash
    - Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 lens
    - Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 lens
    - Manfrotto 190XDB aluminum tripod
    - 8GB SD memory card

I know there's quite a few photographers on here, so let's see your guys' arsenal of photography gear!

Very nice....50mm f/1.4, sweet. Picked up a virtually brand new 17-40L f/4 w/ hood last night for an insane price. Here's my list:

-EOS 450D/Xsi w/ Opteka Battery Grip
    -Speedlite 430exII
    -Canon 17-40L f/4
    -50mm f/1.8 II
    -Canon 55-250 f/4-5.6
    -EOS 10D(shutter act. unknown)
-Canon 18-55mm kit lens(modded to go on 10D)
    -Sigma 28-80 & 70-300 Macros f/4-5.6, they came with the 10D
    -I use a Canon EG200 backpack($35 @ Amazon) for daily use/storage.

    That's about it....

Just got it last night, has no filter, which=incomplete weather/dust sealing. I'm paranoid so I haven't taken it outside yet. And yeah, that backpack is pretty nice, needs a rain cover then i'm set.
When I get my Touring on the road(and respectable-looking) i'll do a mini-photoshoot with It and the Seta.

          BTW-sexy headlamp-wipers bud.

Dont put a filter on it unless you need a specific effect. Putting a cheaper, flat piece of glass on top of an expensive piece of glass that some poor Japanese guys have spent months minimizing CA and flare is a crime. Get one and put it on when you are in a sandstorm. Besides, that camera body is more of an intrusion risk than anything on the lens.

            I have:

            Nikon D300s
            Tokina 11-16/2.8
            Tokina 16-50/2.8
            Nikon 50/1.4
            Samyang 85/1.4
            Nikon 80-200/2.8 AFS
            SB-800
            SB600 x2
Couple of manfrotto tripods and a monopod.

It is all carried with a Dell D420 in a Kata R3 backpack.

And a bunch of random crap: remotes, cables, light stands and umbrellas.
            Im now E30less.

You guys have some nice gear.

              What I have right now:

              Rebel 350D (XT)
              Stock glass

That is actually it lol. I am just starting out in the world of photography, been taking a few classes at school and like it a lot. Another expensive hobby, but it is really fun and lets you be creative.

Just leave the lens hood on. Its the best impact protection you can get (you get NIL from a filter) and it actually increases contrast and decreases flare, the exact opposite of what a filter will do. I actually use a clear glass filter to help induce flare and reduce contrast when I want it.

Have had an SLR since 1993, never rocked a filter unless I knew I needed one (heavy rain, sand, salt, chemicals etc) and no scratched lenses yet.

If you are going to put one on there dont get a UV filter, those are just cheap marketing tools. Just get Nikon's or BWs clear glass protection filter. They are expensive but will reduce contrast and increase flare the least.

^ Solid advice. Im super paranoid about lenses but always just use a lens hood, and replacing the lens cap when i can.
