OK. I'll play- who granted these "rights"? Who enforces them? What happens to people who don't uphold them? Why does a fetus have rights? I'm not asking rhetorically-I really want to know why you believe that the right to life begins at conception.



Selfish? How so? Were I in charge of the World, abortion would be cheap, safe, and unbelievably rare. But as we, especially in America, devolve into a relatively uneducated society full of misconceptions and outright disinformation about sex propagated by various religions, we will see more unwanted pregnancies and hence, more unwanted children. Who will care for them? The people who demand these children be born, but who protest against spending tax money help to clothe and house and feed these children are the selfish ones. Same goes for the ones that will happily pay for new jails to be built, but protest when they are asked to vote for a school tax levy.

1) The world, and the US, has never been more open about what sex is and what sex does. The attitude that teenage sex is OK, or that casual sex is not potentially harmful, are the things that cause the damage. There's never been more peer pressure out there today in the schools to get laid. Girls learn to give blow jobs before they learn to drive. It's not all cool and OK. It's damaging and hurtful. It takes lots of people a long time to get over that kind of thing. So, just saying that religious propaganda blinds us to what sex does is so fucking ignorant that it defies belief.

2) So your argument is that it's OK to kill children because all the selfish rich people out there are unwilling to pay for the raising of that child when that child isn't their own. That's good logic.

3) The parents who produce unwanted children are often the result of my argument 1 above. Get that problem under better control and the resultant problems go way down.

4) Why is the answer always to raise them using tax dollars? Why does the answer have to be the government? They have a family. Sure, the family has to make sacrifices, that's a given, but it's still their responsibility to care for the child. They should WANT to do it, even if they didn't plan to do it.

5) Abortion is simply not the answer to these problems. It's a cause of the problems to a certain extent and it generally causes more harm and more damage than it solves.

I understand that you are not in favor of abortion, or you wouldn't have said "incredibly rare". You're perspective on how it all works though, deserves a bit of examination.

Society grants those rights. Some would say that the true inalienable right come from God. There are things that society deems as wrong, immoral. Killing is one of those things. Stealing is one of those things.

Life does begin at conception. It's a scientific fact and not some religious mumbojumbo. When do you define that fetus as "human" could be argued. At what point does it go from a coherent group of living cells to human? When does it get it's soul, its spark of sentience, its self awareness? The answer is, nobody knows. What we do know is that life starts on conception. So, the only logical and scientific answer to that question is, life starts at conception and it is human. You do an abortion, you are knowingly killing a human child. If you are OK with that, then I suppose that's your business, but that doesn't make it right. (and guess what, I'm not religious. I have never belonged to a church and never went to church services. I come to my conclusion via logic)

Easy there cowboy, You need to be careful with that broad brush you are painting all us union tradesmen with. I assure you 99% of them work just as hard and just as productively as those that are not organized. Its a shame that the bad is what gets reported and the exception rather than the norm is what the reputation has become.

I suspect you will find that if you talk with the bulk of the rank and file members you will find that many hold most of the same convictions as you and I. I am pro union, and yes you are right that, many of the various unions upper levels of management have been corrupted, and turned into the very same thing they were supposed to guard against.

NO not all industries or professions are suitable to be unionized, so dont go there.
