Seems like just another BS thing for flight attendants to have to contend with, and passengers to put up with, all so the airline can pocket an extra $30 or so per flight.....

you fly on ryanair for like $60 round trip from one side of europe to the other.. there really is no room to bitch at that price. I did the math once it was more than 3x cheaper than driving (one way)

1. this is a budget airplane company
2. in europe it is already common to pay, or at least tip, to use the bathroom (at rest stops for example)
3. this is for flights that are an hour less.
4. if you cant hold your piss for 2 hours, then you can pay a buck to use the bathroom and save everyone else that is riding from being charged for it.

Whats going to happen if someone can't hold it, maybe due to a medical condition or something, but also doesn't have cash? Are they going to tell that person that they can't use the lavatory? I understand charging for non-essential things like bags and food and stuff but essential things like water and use of the lavatory should be included in the price of the ticket no matter what.

That person will probably fly on another airline, or not drink fluids before hand. The flights are only an hour, and the fare isn't that much to use the bathroom so it shouldn't be a big deal.
