    RIP - Peter Steele, dead at 48

    Rest in Peace to one of the heaviest-hitting names in the metal world, Peter Steele, frontman of the legendary metal Band TYPE O NEGATIVE. Peter died yesterday of apparent heart failure. You will be missed, and may your existence on the next plane be a peaceful one.



    The only dude in metal that was enough of a badass to use a FUCKING CHAIN for a bass strap, and to do a spread in Playgirl as a joke. :up:

      He's no small guy either. Upper 6' if memory serves.

              Oh man, I first heard of Type O Negative when I bought the Blair Witch Soundtrack (settle, I was 14 when the movie came out and really got into it... Also introduced me to Skinny Puppy, Bauhaus, Public Image Ltd, The Afgan Whigs & Tones on Tail - with that lot, I can't believe I wasn't goth in High School :D )

              What a massive loss.

                  Seriously, this was one of THE bands that influenced a whole genre of metal. And I was never super-into them, but always did like them, and had great respect for their music.

                                          And I'd heard ever since then that he was extremely anti-drug. They had to cancel a tour a few years ago because anomalies they found with his heart.
