dip my weed in adrenochrome (<shit's good) before I smoke it. Then drive down to newport and celebrate the holiday. Anyone ever tried adrenochrome before? Lets just say it makes driving a stick shift very difficult.

Author Hunter S. Thompson mentions adrenochrome in his book Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. In the book it is derived from a living donor's adrenal gland (removing the gland kills the donor; it cannot be taken from a corpse). As such, it is purported to be very exotic, and very intense: "the first wave felt like a combination of mescaline and methedrine". Thompson reported a significant perceived rise in body temperature that led to paralysis. The adrenochrome scene also appears in the novel's film adaptation. In the DVD commentary, director Terry Gilliam admits that his and Thompson's portrayal is a fictional exaggeration. In fact, Gilliam insists that the drug is entirely fictional and seems unaware of the existence of a substance with even a similar name.
So if you're trying to tell us that you do it because it supposedly fucks you up beyond belief, like Hunter S. Thompson says in "Fear and Loathing", then you're full of shit.

Originally posted by Be30mer View PostIts basically like taking adrenaline, except it lasts for a couple hours. I have only done it once, and was more or less kidding about dipping weed in it. The key is taking it in very small amounts. Taking a shot of the substance would do lots of damage.

- Adrenochrome is an oxidation product of adrenaline (ephinephrine, norepinephrine). It has achieved mythical status as a deliberately-ingested psychoactive -- boosted by H.S. Thompson's Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas -- though it is debated whether it has any psychoactive effects at all.
- This is a case where the myth is far more interesting than the facts. Adrenochrome is real. It is synthesized by oxidation of adrenaline (epinephrine) in the adrenal glands. Medically, adrenochrome is used to reduce capillary bleeding. It may create mild euphoria, but there really are no psychoactive effects documented from this drug.
I've got more.
