How many of you have been severely injured?

doesn't matter what it is... broken bone? blown out joint? severe burn? let's hear some stories!!

I recently blew one of my knees for the 4th time! 1st time- soccer in highschool... ACL left knee. 2nd time-soccer When I was 22 MCL and meniscus right knee. 3rd time- MCL playing twister with two girls, naked I might add, and a bottle of Jack daniels(LOL! trust me, it was worth it) left knee. 4th time-relapse of MCL and ACL left knee while walking(weird I know).. which I am going through right now. oh and I am extremely fucked up on perk 325's to ease the pain! Thanks doc! :)

this doesn't really run in my family but for some reason my knees are my kryptonite! it may be because I've played soccer since I was 5 but I dunno. they've healed naturally everytime bit I'm starting to get worried that I may need surgery or it will keep reoccuring. although, I hear that even with surgery, there's still the possibility of it coming back over and over of there's too much scar tissue built up.

alright, let's hear em you crazy mofo's!

I broke my shoulder in high school at football practice, had two surgeries and all the scouts that were looking at my lost interest. Tough year for me.

Broke my left thigh bone when I was 5, was in traction for 4 wks in a cast for I guess another 4. Had to relearn to walk.

Dislocated 4 ribs between my shoulder blades and almost ruptured 3 discs in my lower back. After looking at my Xrays the Chiropractor asked if I walked into his office. I told him I kinda shuffled in.

The leg doesn't bother me, except that leg is a little shorter than my right. It throws my hip off which contributed to my lower back problems, which affect me to this day.

        shattered my face playing baseball...

        nasal maxillary
        orbit
        zygomatic bone

i was centerfield (definitely had right of way) kept calling everyone off, running full tilt toward ball, idiot right fielder who didnt speak a word of english i guess didnt hear me?!?!?

He was a moron anyways and smashes into me as hes running full speed. 5 titanium plates and 1.5 years later and I'm all good aside from the loss of feeling on the left side of my face, doc said it can take nerves up to 4 years to heal.

        edit:

Tore my acl, not badly enough to require surgury, and tore the cartilage in my rib cage. Neither were particularly severe, but they both sucked.

fucked up my right knee HS football (no real tendon issues JOINT itself something about scraping some of the lining outta place and have a bone on bone thing going once in a while) and have re-injured it several times in cave-ins at work when the sides of the ditch let go a little and catch me right on the sides of both knees a few times.

Never really go to see the docs about it, just eat the motrin and keep on going. When I fucked it up in HS the 2ed time doc told me was gonna need to get it replaced by 30, I turn 30, this year and still going fine. Hiking the Hills at work lugging gear up and down the Mountains of central PA is hard on it though.

dislocated my right shoulder a few times, once as kid messing around with my dad, and a couple of times working on heavy equipment and at work wrestling with heavy lifts (50 tons of shit dangling from a crane kinda thing) trying to get them into just the right place.

Other than that I have been pretty lucky considering I grew up on a farm and have been in heavy construction all my adult life, other than a few sets of stitches that is.

Never been severely injured but I've been hurt. Still the worse pain ever was when I had my impacted wisdom teeth pulled and I didn't take the Vicodine. I was crying when the anesthesia wore off, but then I am probably just a wuss.

But this one time I fractured two ribs in submission wrestling (still didn't submit) but I thought they just popped or dislocated I don't know, adrenaline is pretty powerful stuff. I was working at one of the Home Improvement big box stores at the time. Kept working, moving crap like concrete, drywall basically everything since I did deliveries. And my ribs kept popping so I just just slam my back into a wall to push them back into place, did this for a few days before I realized they were probably broke, I went to the doctor just so I can get some Xrays to show everyone. He did give me a note saying I can't lift over 10 pounds. I kept going to work but everytime there was soemthing I didn't wanna do I will flash the note.

Other than that nothing really major I do remember a few weeks ago my pit smashed his bowling ball head into the bridge of my nose. It hurt so bad and it was bruised or something under cause for about 2 weeks I would squeeze out this dark bluish bloody stuff out of the pores on my nose.

I too have never really been severely injured but I've had quite a few high sprained ankles and jacked up my knees and what not from skating.

I have had one surgery that just happened 6 weeks ago, my right lung kept randomly collapsing so they had to go in and staple off the top like 5-10% of it to keep it from happening again and put some powder(I think talc?) in there to adhere my lung to the chest wall so there wouldn't be a void in my chest cavity. That was definitely the worse pain I've ever been in, although the morphine button helped a lot haha :). Still bothers me a ton and will randomly flare up and burn like crazy, but it's better than it collapsing over and over.

                          Staff infection twice.

                          Viral meningitis.

12 stitches in my lip from a fight.

Both of my ankles are completely F'd (football, weightlifting, snowboarding, Mt biking, Drunken walking)

The worst by far was the second Time I got staff infection. Its a long gnarly story, but basically; I hit a tree full speed mt. biking. Right knee got all screwed up. Almost healed after a month and I went back out biking for two days straight. The following day the staff infection took over my leg. One month of urgent care visits with no signs of healing. My neighbor who is a surgeon looked at it and immediately made an appointment for surgery the next day. It was kind of scary finding out How close I was to losing my leg.

3 months total of being nearly bed ridden.
Also the pharmacist had never seen such high dosage for the 3 different types of anti-biotics I was on.

when i was 14 i shattered my left elbow joint skateboarding.
joint was shattered, and the humerus bone was also fully broken(2 seperate pieces)
spent 7 hours in surgery getting 2 plates, 10 screws, and 1 big ass bolt.

and to top it off all this happened exactly 1 day before having health insurance!
