I've done this in the SF area also. They just write down your plate and give you a form to mail in with payment.

Also for out of state revocation, they cannot do that. Some states do talk with one another by they can't revoke your license from out of state. Furthermore, your home state cannot revoke your license from what you have racked up out of state. Your insurance on the other hand, can and will screw you. I know this because I went through it. Something to the tune of lots of unpaid tickets from various states around ten years ago when I was younger and didn't quite understand the consequences.

I don't see what you're bitching about? If you can't pay, and they made an exception...who else would they need to make exceptions to?

Also, it's pretty common to get have a warrant for your arrest if you miss a court date. Maybe the judge was frustrated, who knows.

Lastly - your license can be revoked by another state. For example, in Iowa this past summer, I was driving...errr, fast in a 25. If he had ticketed me for the speed me clocked me, IA could have revoked my license. I think the officer gave me a lower speed to avoid the hassle. It would be a long time, paperwork, etc before Idaho would revoke my license, but it could happen. Most likely it wouldn't have, because Idaho's MV laws don't read the same and in ID my license wouldn't be revoked for the same violation. Basically, what I'm getting at is: some states can and do work together like so. No idea of IL does though.

Why didn't you just pay the ticket in the first place? Unless its something serious it should have been a no court appearance required. I understand you wanted to fight the ticket originally but when you missed the first court date then you should have just payed the ticket online. BTW corn is in EVERYTHING so Illinois will continue to grow it and be happy doing so.
