a loaded 3 bay weighs like 11 metric tonnes. SNAP-ON make a couple of big boxes on pnumatic wheels though, so it could be possible.

i figured you would get a kick out of this though.

From a business point of view I completely understand it. Race teams are constantly moving tools around and boxes that big are heavy and can cause injuries. Might be worth it as opposed to losing your good mechanic.

what about just pushing the toolbox by hand that short distance...?

if it could only retrieve and file all my tools as well....

actually, a box that could do that would be awesome.

            imagine:

walk up to your tool box,
enter the size you need on a keypad, (i.e. deep 10mm 1/4 drive, with ratchet)
a slot opens, toolbox dispenses said tool.

when you're done, you dump all the tools in the tray on top, and it cleans and organizes them for you. then it's ready for the next job.

it would also have the feature we all need:

            "this sockets' not big enough!"
toolbox automatically produces next size up (and can switch between metric and standard for in-between sizes, i.e. 17mm too small, 18mm too big, box gives you the in-between size in a standard socket)

But I still agree. for the price I would rather get hookers and blow.
Then get a box with wheels on it and push it out to your car? This is still cool but rolling boxes are nothing new, and this is just for people that are too lazy to push the box themselves.

actually, that is what tool carts are for. load up the tools that you need for the job. i have 3 carts, one mac that is ABS for a mobile table, one for electrical stuff, and one that is all my bodywork specific. i also have my big 2 bay with a side box.

well, for instance at the pro-level race event where you would roll your box to the hot pits along with your pit crew....it might be worth it. If it moves fast enough. as of right now everything is towed using quads, golfcarts or service carts and tow hitches
