What music player are you guys using on your PCs?

Going to start copying all my CD's to the new HTPC and wanted something that will also download/update whatever the metadata with album covers and such.

That way all the music will be nicely categorized and such.

Back in the day I used to use winamp, but no idea what the newest/hippest stuff is now.

    Sincerely,

    - Trying to take UNCHLL's spot as the young, old fogey on R3V.

No need to update or keep uploading shit to the player. You just have it "monitor" a single folder, dump all your music there and it categorizes it all, makes sure there aren't multiples, gets you album art, aesthetically very nice, and very simple.

    Fuck iTunes.

Oh and running Windows 7. Haven't played around to much with the Media Center.

Will it do a good job for what I want, or should I still look for a dedicated music player so I have an EQ and such.

Windows Media player has done everything I've needed so far. Media Center is kinda slow but I havent tried it on my new Macbook running Windows 7 yet.

grooveshark is fucking sweet at work, bye bye pandora!! I used to use winamp back in the day, started working at a radio station that used iTunes then just gave in and switched to that. On the newest winamp can you sync your ipod, i.e. add and remove songs and playlists?

Winamp for music, VLC for videos. Nothing else will do. they're simple, clean, and without a whole lot of flashy BS. never failed me.

winamp works with ipods. it's just drag and drop.
