    Calling all Texans!

Well Texans that got some info about Dallas.

I am moving to Dallas near the end of June/beginning of July.
I have been busy looking for a house to rent.

I am going to be working very close to Love Field. Not to say that I have to live right down the street. I certainly don't mind a small commute.
Would any one have recommendations for areas that may be good for me(good meaning not gross but not ridiculously expensive)?

I was also curious if you knew what areas I should NOT live in. I have heard South and Southeast Dallas could be dangerous. But, I'm not even sure what you could consider South and Southeast compared to the rest of the city because its so spread out.

Any insight on this topic would help me out immensely.

Tell us a little bit more about yourself so I can figure out what type of place to recommend. Are you married? Kids? Kids coming soon? Prefer city? Suburbia?

Its definitely not a great idea to live in the South & Southeast parts of Dallas (unless you go about 20 miles out).

If you're single, you might want to check out the areas just a couple miles east of Love Field (West Village, Uptown, Cityplace, or Mockingbird Station). You'll be closer to the nightlife of Dallas, its an 'old' money part of town, & you'll be able to swing a 1-2 bedroom at a fair price.

The further north you, the cheaper things will be. Off of the Dallas North Tollway, just a mile north of I-635 is a smaller town called Addison. Commute to Love Field area with little to no traffic should take you just less than 30 minutes conservatively. That town is full of younger/single people, countless number of bars & restaurants, & good shopping. As long as you get a place outside of Addison Circle, finding an affordable apartment shouldn't be too difficult.

Since you're closer to Love Field, you might want to find a place right off of Central Expwy or Dallas North Tollway.

If you're the married with kids, or soon to be with one or the other, suburbia such as Carrollton, Plano, Frisco, Southlake, Grapevine, & Irving (Valley Ranch area) is right up your alley.

He summed it up nicely. Dallas is a sweet place my brother has been gone for two years in the navy and is all over the country every place he's been he still misses Dallas.

Dallas recently moved up my list to #3 on my list of favorite cities in texas. I went to a wedding there and saw a side of town I'd never seen - it was pretty fun.

I had the chance to meet several of the I guess OGs of R3v about 2 years ago. St Patrick's day to be exact. Good bunch of guys! Enjoy, Dallas is fun!

Good summary, all depends on how much you're willing to spend as well.

Just don't hang out with this Bimmerista guy, or he'll try to convince you to buy 928s with chrome wheels.

Well I'm single no kids and looking for a 3 bedrooom HOUSE with a 2 car garage.
We(my brother's and I) are looking to not spend more than 1k month for rent.

                About me?
I'm gonna be starting at BMW of Dallas as a level 1 tech.
The new shop is gonna be at 6200 Lemmon Ave about 3 miles from Love Field.
I love live music,(rock, jazz, bluegrass, metal). I like to drive(duh). I like a bar where I can talk without having to yell.
I really have no prefrence of suburbs or city. But I do like the idea of living in a subdivision. I play music myself so I also dont need to be pissing off neighbors either.

I have been looking on line in a couple of different places that seem moderatly priced but I dont know where would be good.

Again ANY suggestions will be appreciated cause I don't know much about living in Dallas. I have one connections there but he isin't answering emails.

Oaklawn and Lemmon EATZI'S. It's the absolute shit! I now drive right into Dallas instead of i20,hwy80,635,north tollway. It's the coolest grocery/restaurant you will ever experience. Classic BMW is a real nice place too.

Housing in the immediate area of where you'll be working is expensive. I would suggest looking north around Irving (Valley Ranch area) or South Carrollton.

Just FYI....the new BMW of Dallas location is located off of Lemmon Ave, which if you drive north will turn into Marsh Lane. Marsh Lane cuts right through Carrollton.

To me the price you want to pay for rent will lock you out of many of the nicer areas. I don't know about all of the suggested places but a thousand a month won't rent much of a house in Southlake or any of the areas surrounding it. Your work will be some distance from where I live in Northwest Fort Worth so the commute will be probably too far but once you get west of Southlake and Trophy Club along the SH 114 corridor things get cheaper. A lot of parts of Irving aren't that nice from what I've seen and I'm just not that familar with parts east of there. If you ever want to buy a house Trophy Club and parts west and north is the start of th Northwest ISD. It is one of the highest rated school districts in the entire metro area.
