Well if you have 5k and you're not gonna buy an e30 or any other 80's bmw (which would be be gay if you didnt) I'd go with a volvo, like a 240 or if you're lucky enough to find one, a 242.. that's my opinion.

i dont even own a 80's bmw, i own a 91 :)

id love to have a touring, but typically, they are 200+K and expensive. a small extended cab ranger or s10 wouldbe great, but ive not decided yet. ive still not found anything i like locally..

meh. if you can get an 85 supra, that body style is waaay classier, and fun as hell to drive/rally.

my old roomate bought an 83 with an auto and it was lame, then we put a 5speed in it and it was unreal. those cars are inline 6 rockets. we were doing 200km/h thru montana and we had no idea. we thought it was more like 140.

I wouldn't DD a 242, simply because they're getting harder to find.

The logic about trucks in this thread makes me want to :blowup:. So i agree with Danny :up:. As an S10 owner past and present. They are fine trucks. Never owned a Ranger, but my Ford buddys dont really complain about them. Although they are die hard Ford people.... And for gas mileage, you got to look at the overall picture. Like e30e, that's pretty good for what they are. I'm getting that out of my 97 Blazer 4x4 now with mixed driving.

What's your definition of shitty gas mileage, my brother and dad both DD Silverado extended cabs and get 19-20 mpg in a full size truck.

20mpg or less = shitty.

For instance, I average ~20 in my Volvo, and that's shitty.

generally I see it as:

20 or less = shit
20-25 = eh
25-30 = alright
30-35 = good
35+ = great
