I love me some 80's cars... it seems like a pretty good decade when things weren't too complicated, but still good enough for performance platforms.

Is that a turbo or just a regular DL? Oh, and I like the volvo moose crest (or whatever animal it is) on the quarter panel, nice touch.

Standard wagon... actually it's a GL (don't let the DL badge fool you, though I've been calling it a DL for a year and a half now and there's only one difference, so it may as well be). No turbo yet but I've got one sitting in my garage and about half the parts I need to do the whole +t dealio. Though if I blow my engine up first, then I can justify going with a 93 turbo block...

also, no chebby motors. or v8s for this car. I want to make it a straight-up Volvo turbo car. 16v may or may not be in it's future, but for now it's just a DD and I don't want to do crazy insane stuff with it. the +t is just so it's not abysmally slow, all the suspension stuff I plan to do to it is all pretty mild, and the car gets worked HARD as a daily... it's the only car in a three-adult household, meaning it has to haul people, gear, dogs, etc...

Also, being a poor college student doesn't really bode well for saving up for a big ol' V8... though if I could, I'd rock a fuel injected 5.0. Yeah boy.

it was in sad shape. most of the rear bumper was black duct tape. and the steering wheel cowl and underdash too. mechanically, it was pretty decent.

had 240k miles when it was sold for $350. heh. it was bought only a few hours after i put that sign on the back window.

Oh, well if you have everything to do a turbo on it, do that, then get the sick turbo wheels for it. I always loved the deepdish look of the 240 turbo wheels. My first car was almost a 240 DL sedan 5-speed, but then I bought my e30 instead, lol.

Probably some time over the summer I'll figure stuff out and set up a bbq. Chances are pretty good it'll be in Santa Rosa or Rohnert Part, just gotta find a nice park with bbqs or we can just bring one or two to a park that doesn't. Actually, the park down the street from my house has decent parking (enough for a small meet, probably up to like 20 people, maybe more), but there's not a whole lot else there (big open field, and like two benches).

We'll see.

I got mine with 263k on the clock for $700, it was in decent shape. Steering rack shit out when I was working as a delivery driver, cost $2k in parts, labor, and a rental truck for two weeks. Recently changed the brake hoses, calipers, pads, and rotors, that whole bit was something like $750. I've probably spent $500 on the stereo. Decent car to drive, suspension mods come next, then comes the turbo. :pimp:

I've got about half the stuff, only need the ignition system and some plumbing stuff to go from turbo to intercooler, and an airbox. As well as exhaust stuff -- I need that too. I'm slowly gathering parts... as it is, I have the turbo and a handful of other stuff.

Virgos (what those 240 Turbo wheels are called) are pretty nice looking, definitely period-correct, but the alloy is pretty soft and they like to bend, so finding a straight set is a challenge. I'm probably going to be running Dracos (740 turbo wheels), or Polaris/Eikers if I can find them (look at the silver wagon that freeride posted for reference...). Whatever I do end up running, they're gonna have spacers... as it is now, the rear wheels are sunk in 3.5", that's waaaaay too much. Granted they're only 195s right now, but still... the rear track on these things is pretty narrow.

It's not gonna be making big power -- just 6psi on a factory turbo setup, the car is going to be identical in powerplant to a 740 turbo in all but one way (compression). Since I'm starting with an n/a motor, my compression will be higher (9.5:1 vs. 8.5:1), so I'll make a little more power, but not much. I'm pretty much just going for a car that can actually get out of it's own way. :p

Granted, my engine is old, tired and shitty, and gets abused daily, but still.
