...or hit up Craigslist. You can probably get twice as much gear (used) as that same $40 in Chinese garbage.

Just go down to Cabela's or whatever and buy an Ugly Stik rod and reel combo in the length you need. Use the cheap rell, and upgrade if you really enjoy the Fishing.

It will run you roughly $50

            Fishing rocks!

Nice to see some other fisherman on here. You don't need to spend $1000 on a rod and reel to catch fish - my first pike was on a $6 rod on sale from Cabellas.

I hope to get back up the mountains this year and catch a few lakers.

I used to guide for steelhead out of Erie, Pennsylvania in the late 90's early 2000's. If you want a crash course in catching fish in your area heres what you do... Find a shitty looking shack of a "bait store" close to your fishing grounds. The older the person working the counter the better. Go there on a Wednesday (slowest day of the week in a baitstore), between 10 and 2 pm. Strike up a conversation. Ask what they would recomend, buy it, use it. Start stopping in once or twice a week to talk fishing. In a month you will be catching all kinds of fish, have a good friend to tell it too, and probably be getting a few dollars off on some of your purchases.
It worked for me when I was getting into flyfishing for steelhead, two years after I started going to the "baitshop" the owner of the baitshop started paying me as a guide for some of his other customers.

Price check on Vagiclean, aisle five. I repeat: price check on Vagiclean, aisle five. That's Vagiclean. We've got a customer down here with a full-on fallopian fungus. I'm baking a loaf of bread and I think it's sourdough.
