Kountry kitchen was great I was worried the menu was to simple but when my food came it was great, you have to try the coconut syrup on their fluffy pancakes.
Went to poupu beach and had shave ice, it was no joke, I don't know why it's better here, but it is, especialy with ice cream under it.
The last thing we did today was the smith family luau. It is a bargan at $78. Guided trolly tour of plants and trees, presentation of the underground cooking of the kalua pig, then free drinks(alchohol) and music, fatty buffet, lastley when the sun goes down the show starts where they dance and sing with fire!, they also go over all the different nationalitys that make up Hawaii.
Great show!
Glad to hear you liked the Kitchen! Prior to my trip, the thought of coconut syrup revolted me. After about 2 days on the islands, I got used to the whole tropical-fruit-everything and I gave it a shot. Not bad at all!
oh yeah, and go take a helicopter ride. we used jack harter. truly amazing.
Unfortunately i don't trust anything that can't glide to a safe landing.
I probably should do it but we're trying to only spend $100 a day and we have 4 days left.
Yeah helicopter rides, zip-line tours, and plantation raft tours would all have been nice, but I didn't have the cash either. Just enjoy the simple beauty of that island. I can't wait to go back!
Couple more suggestions:
-Waimea Brewing is on the southwest side of town in the plantation resort. It is dead in the afternoons, but could be cool at night
-Thunder Hole is worth a couple minutes' drive if you're in the area. The tree-tunnel on Maluhia Rd. is a nice touch.
-Barking Sands is a strange sight. Drive past the last town for about 10 minutes, stumble upon a missile range in the middle of nowhere.
