Yes I am sure they ae torqued an extrem amount; however they can use a pneumatic cuter then they can use the right tool to release them. How do they plan to affix the new connector?

I am just talking but I think these guys are idiots. If they are at all confident in this plan why was it not done sooner?

A quote to reply to both of your statements. Bolded for assistance.

God dammit this has been explained to you already.

they have tired to get a containment dome/box over it but that was with a fucked up riser and BOP sticking up in the way. When the did the gas hydrates (frozen gases) coming outta the ground froze it up and plugged up the works before hot water and methanol could be used to defrost it.

The smaller one suffered a similar fate but mostly due to conflicts with shit in the way.

SO they CUT OFF THE RISER and BOP. this gives them a smooth surface with no shit sticking off the well riser. So the can slide another specialty fabed up containment device over the riser with some what of a mechanical seal (not a good one but something)

This is what is called fly by night engineering, There are redundant safety systems that failed, so this should never have happened. They have had to come up with the idea build the shit then try it out. It a trail and error process, so far it been more error than anything but not from a lack of trying.

If you have such great insight fly you ass down there and tell/show em how its done. they have some of the BEST Engineers and filed personnel on the planet in this field working on it. They will get it eventually
